Guest guest
Hi t, Yes my cycle was long after surgery. My doctor said that is completely normal. I usually ovulate between cd 12-14, after surgery it wasn't until after cd 16 making my cycle longer. So don't worry too much about the longer cycle. Hope that helps. My cycle was 29 days, when it is usually 25. I also have noticed my period is lasting quite a bit longer, with a lot heavier flow, and some pretty painful cramps. I used to only get cramps the first day of my cycle, but these are every day and very painful, a different kind of pain than my old cramps. I also have an IUD though, and am wondering if that might be affecting things. I can't wait to get it out (12-7) and be off the estradiol (Wed). I just want everything to go back to normal. And I can't wait to TTC again. The whole process took so long (my loss was in April). Well, hope things get back to normal soon for you too. , 25, SU resected
Guest guest
Hi, Yes, it is quite common for your cycle to be affected by the surgery. A lot of women have reported longer cycles. I think that the estradiol is also prolonging it. If my understanding is correct, your period can't come until the estrogen level goes down. In a " normal or unmedicated cycle " your estrogen would dip down as the progesterone rises and then AF would come. Is your dr having you take the progesterone to bring on af? or will you just finish taking the estradiol and wait for your estrogen level to drop on its own and bring on af? With my first resection I took 30 days of estradiol and during the last 5 I took prgesterone along with the estradiol. AF came 2 days after stopping. After my 2nd resection my dr did not prescribe any hormones and my cycle was actually shorter than normal! It has also been comonly talked about here that the cycle or two after a resection are much heavier than normal. This is ESPECIALLY true if you are taking hormones b/c the hormones build up your uterine lining more than you would on your own. Sounds like you are right on track. Happy healing! Guest guest
Thanks to everyone who responded. Am really looking forward to a heavier than normal period (not). Am taking only estradiol; no progesterone supplementation and am totally off birth control. Interesting that some docs are giving progesterone with estradiol at the end of the estradiol script. t > > Ladies: > > Keep expecting my cycle to start (no, definitely not pg -- just > recovered from surgery).
