Welcome to the group! I'm working on getting a recommendation from

another member that should know some docs in Dallas. There are 2

members on the other site (MA Cafe) that went to docs in that area

and both are resected SU ladies).

It sounds like you had a good gyne. Your next step will be to find

an RE with experience with MAs, specifically diagnosing and resecting

a septum. A septated uterus (SU) can sometimes be misdiagnosed as a

bicornuate uterus (BU). A septum is not vascular and therefore if an

embryo implants on it, the blood supply is not likely able to support

a pg and often a m/c happens in the 1st trimester. If a pg makes it

past that point, sometimes its inflexible nature will lead to things

like incompetant cervix (IC), preterm labor (PTL) and breech

presentation, and growth restriction. The good news is that the

septum can be easily removed during an outpatient surgery. The

procedure is called a lap/hys and the only 2 or 3 very small (the

size of an eraser head) incisions are made in the belly and another

instrument is inserted through the vagina and cervix to go inside and

cut or laser out the septum. It really is a pretty easy surgery to

have done, esp. if you have an experienced dr. Recovery is as easy

as one or two days before you feel able to return to work, although

your belly button area may be tender for up to 2 weeks or so.

I had the surgery twice because my first dr did not resect it all the

way. I went on to have a daughter and am pregnant again with

another. After the surgery, the risk of m/c in a resected SU is

considered to be the same as that in a *normal* uterus.

I'm sorry that you found out that you have to deal with this, but I

think you will find that there are a lot of knowledgeable and

supportive members who will share their experiences with you. I

don't know what I would have done without their support over the

years.
