Guest guest
This Mayenburg stuff is terrible! Any other options?? Little concerned b/c my guy is allergic to nuts and nut yogurt is not an option for us. If I can not make the yogurt, are there any probiotics in capsules that are legal beyond Kirkmans L. Acidoph? Guest guest
Summerhill Farms is a brand that Trader Joe's carries (at least here in the Pacific Northwest..... I don't know about elsewhere), that I know parents have reported tastes good. You might try dripping the yogurt you made from the Meyenberg milk.... that helps a little with removing the bitter, goaty taste..... but I know what you mean. When I made it, it made my whole house smell goaty for DAYS! I then found a local goat farmer who sold me raw Nubian milk.... and used that until the mama goat dried up. We now use cow milk now, as my daughter has no issues with it. Custom Probiotics has an acidophilus that is dairy free..... but I know some other parents reported their kids reacting to even the tiniest amount of that one.... while others use it with no problems. The link to that one is on the pecanbread.com website. If you don't mind a trace of dairy being in a probiotic, Lucy's Kitchen Shop sells the Lyosan one that many SCD'ers use successfully. Guest guest
, I agree that the Meyenberg stuff tastes bad. I haven't heard from Caprine Estates. I e-mailed, but have not gotten a reply yet. I can try calling again in a little while. Maybe someone could repost the info on the good tasting brand of goat milk that is being sold at some of the Trader Joe's. If we could find out a brand name, maybe we can get our local HF stores to carry it or maybe it can be mail ordered. As for legal probiotics in capsules. You can order the SCdophilus from GI ProHealth. http://www.giprohealth.com The legal brands are listed on pecanbread.com too. http://www.pecanbread.com/probiotics.com Jody mom to -5 and -8 SCD 21 months
Guest guest
Here's a link to some info on the brand of goat milk that we get at Whole Foods here in MA http://www.vtspecialtyfoods.org/members/oakknoll.html They don't have a website, but an email address is listed as well as phone numbers and addresses. I'm not sure if they do mail order. I get it for just over $5 per half gallon at Whole Foods. It tastes just like cows milk to me, doesn't smell and makes very milk yogurt. This info also says they sell goat half and half which would be awesome for ice cream or cream cheese making!! It's also just pasteurized, not ultra pasteurized. Good LUck!!!
