Guest guest
4 months on diet. My 16 month old has DS and IS. Still on topomax and valproic acid. Gideon " woke up " about 2 months ago as far as smiling and laughing daily. But we just can't seem to kick the seizures. We have an " occasional " good day. But for the most part still 50-100 plus spasms a day. Mostly in a single cluster. He is teething, but he most likely will be teething for a long time since only 2 have come through. What are my options? I hate upping his meds and I don't want to abandon the diet, but I know the damage infantile spasms can cause. Any input greatly appreciated. Guest guest
Hi there, I just wanted to say hello. My daughter Kristan is 13 months and has been on the diet since August 2003, she use to have 150-200 seizures a day, complex partial seizures. We took her off all meds as they just made her worse. We still can't stop the seizures, she is down to about 15 a day at the moment, and that is always going up and down. Kristan just also started teething and I think it makes it worse for her too. I don't have any answers for you, I just wanted to share my story as I know what you must be going through seeing your little one have so many spasms. Have you considered stopping all meds? Your lucky your little one smiles and laughs, my Kristan stopped smiling and laughing when she started having seizures at 4.5 months of age, I'm hoping she will start to smile/laugh again soon. Good luck. ******* Satnam, mom to Kristan, 13 months Keto since August 2003 > 4 months on diet. My 16 month old has DS and IS. Still on topomax and > valproic acid.
