Yes it is because it happened to me!!!!!!! Since you have something

scheduled, my suggestion would be to call your OB for a couple of HCG tests

to see if the values are going up (new pregnancy) or down (leftover

hormones)... and even an u/s in a week or two ... I'm not sure about the

birth control, ask your doc...

good luck,

Mikki

It is indeed possible to ovulate within 2-3 weeks after a D & C. A D & C

basically acts as a period would and your body generally resets the hormone

levels pretty quickly. Doctors tell patients that they should expect a

period between 4 and 8 weeks post-D & C. By way of example, I had a D & C, got

my period 7 weeks later and then got pregnant that cycle. I ended up

miscarrying again, but you can get pregnant really quick after a D & C.

I don't think birth control pills can harm a baby -- there's plenty of oops!

babies born to women who took the pill until month 4 or 5 (you only have to

miss one or two pills to get pregnant).

From what I understand, you shouldn't really have any HCG left in your

system post-D & C, as the products of conception are what generate the HCG and

once they are removed, your levels should plummet quickly. If you're

worried, call your doctor. A quant-HCG level isn't particularly expensive

and only takes a couple of minutes. And if they're not ready to do

bloodwork, you should be able to talk to a nurse on the phone and get your

questions answered by someone who knows your medical history.

Oh, and if you're NOT pregnant, stopping the pills should bring on a fairly

quick period, I would think...

Hope you get the answer you want!

Yes, it is " possible " that you are pg.

I am only speaking from memory, but my sister and a friend from work

both got pg on birth control pills. The friend's pg went ok, my

sister had a m/c and was told that the pills could have contributed.

I have not done any research into the validity of this myself, but I

would HIGHLY recommend that you call your dr. I would hope that they

would do an hcg quant and repeat it in a few days to see if was

increasing (indicating pg). And tell them that you are taking the

pills and if you should stop or not.

Wow--- very exciting. Let us know what happens and good luck!

Hi Miriam,

I have never had a D & C done, but after my last m/c (identical twins

at 9 weeks), my hCG levels didn't go down completely until 5-6 weeks

after passing the fetuses. I was still at 17 at the time of my next

period (above 5 shows a pregnancy)which got delayed. I agree with

Mikki, you would want to test to see if goes up or down, to know

wheather it's a left over or something growing. Hope it works out

either way! Not sure what you are hoping for in the midst of your

research. Take care!!
