Guest guest
I understand home tests are pretty reliable. But instead of worrying just eat healthy, take pre-natals and drink tons of water. These are things you should be doing post op and pre preg anyway. it will keep you safe. LEnore false positive ???? Ok, so I take a pregnancy test and it comes up positive (and really quick). My last period was 6/7, and we were trying, so I would have tried around ovulation time. I started feeling like crap, tired, really tired, peeing alot, and very bitchey. Anyway, I call my gyn office to get an appt., they tell me I have to go for blood work, which I do on Saturday. Well as of yesterday, they didn't have the results back yet, and refused to schedule my appt. I explained that I had gotten a positive result, no period since 6-7, and I am leaving on vacation in less than 10 days. I would really like to be seen, get my vitamins in order, before my vacation. If all is correct, I am about 8 weeks pregnant. So the nurse tells me that home pregnancy test are inacurate, and it could have been a false positive. Not I am upset. We were trying for so long, and I really want a baby. All signs feel/and show that I am pregnant. But that nurse just ticked me off. She also told me that I may have to wait until after my vacation for a 1st appt. At that point I may be as far along as almost 11 weeks. I feel I really should be seen before my vacation, as the first trimester is very important. I did have a false negative with my 1st daughter, but never heard of a false/positive result. Please all, give me your insight on this possible false/positive result. Guest guest
, Call and demand to talk to the doctor. The nurse is not the be-all- end-all at your doctor's office. Most OBs don't want to see people until they are 8-10 weeks pregnant and so they are probably trying to put you off. If you can and explain that you have special circumstances and may be a high risk patient then I bet they will get you in. Do what you need to do to talk with the doctor. Tell the recptionist you specifically need to speak with a doctor. False positives are very rare. Home pregnancy tests are very accurate, especially if used after your missed period. If your doctor's office is still uncooperative then I would switch doctors. Just my .02. Amy Y. Guest guest
No no no no no.... I repeat go find another OB/GYN.. do not pass go do not collect 200 $.. Pregnancy test are VERY accurate the only time you can get a false positive is if you recently had a miscarriage or delivered a baby. This nurse obviously doesnt know what she is talking about. Did you ask her if she was a RN?? who knows it could be the secretary telling you this. This irritates me when dr.s just pass you by. Its not so much that you may need to wait for an appointment but that they will not disclose your test results and wont give you vitamins! Did you tell her that you had WLS and that vitamins are crucial ?! I would defiantly find another dr. and quick. the first trimester (which you will be out of when you come back for vaction) is crucial point in development... Vitamins are essential and so is good prenatal care! Good luck! Shonda ~WAHM to Kaitlyn(5), e(3)~ PG-edd: 4/15/03 check out: www.babyzone.com false positive ???? Guest guest
Thank You Lenore for your comments, but I do eat healthy and take my vitamins properly, and have since my surgery. My understanding is that when we become pregnant, we either need to up our vitamins, change our vitamins, or possibly eat differently. Guest guest
Hello Joy! I dont know if this can help you or not. I found this at the url http://www.fertilityplus.org/faq/hpt.html#faq Q: Can I use an HPT if I had an hCG injection (such as Profasi, Pregnyl or Novarel)? A: You can, but you should wait 7-14 days after your last injection before the shot is out of your system. If you test too soon, you might get a false positive. Wait 14 days after a 10,000 IU injection, 10 days after a 5,000 IU injection, or 7 days after a 2,500 IU injection. - Good point about the beta being able to detect it. Im sure there is no explaination to it .. Did you have a blood test few days after you had pos. hpt. Sorry to hear about the false positive. Must have been heartbreaking. Guest guest
Not necessarily -- on upping the vitamins. You just have to be diligent. The only way you should up your vites is if you are deficient in something. As for eating, you will want to try to eat once every 90 minutes or every two hours in order to ward off low blood sugar and dizziness and to insure you are providing enough nutrition for yourself and the baby. Guest guest
Right you should be taking pre-natals, not regular vits. You are supposed to start them while you are tyrying to conceive any way. So you have nothing to wrory about then. The only thing you need to do with your food is protein first. If you are doing all this you don't have to wrry, that is my only point. Lenore false positive ???? > > >Ok, so I take a pregnancy test and it comes up positive (and really quick). >My last period was 6/7, and we were trying, so I would have tried around >ovulation time.
