I'm so sorry to hear that your brother is also having problems. It is so

frustrating isn't it? I hope that he can find some way to deal with this

terrible news.

Because I have been affected by DES, hypospadius in any sons I might have is a

concern for me. A study was done that noted a far higher incidence of

hypospadius in DES grandsons than in the general population. The link is below:

http://www.cdc.gov/DES/consumers/research/recent_hypospadias.html

Yes, DES can cause BU, SU and a whole range of other MAs besides the notorious

t-shaped uterus (which I have). They are still doing studies on the effects of

grandchildren of those who took DES. It is possible that if your grandmother

had complications during pregnancy (such as bleeding or multiple miscarriages)

that she was given DES. It was given in pill form, by injection, and in

prenatal vitamins.

I'm so sorry that you are having to deal with so much heartache in your family.

I hope you can find the answers to your questions.

I'm waiting to hear

from my grandmother whether or not she took DES while pregnant, but

is DES linked to BU or SU, and in grandchildren? Thanks for any

answers you all might have. I respect your opinions.

I have been wondering about the genetics aspect of all of

this also. My brother has one testical, one kidney, and

is sterile also. Wondering how it all fits in?

I agree with the gentics idea. My sister had PCOS. I don't know if she had

any other problems, she recently died without children. I also have an aunt

who had 1 fallopian tube. Go figure- LIz

Hey .

I don't know a ton about DES or the genetics of MAs, but I do know

that my grandmother took DES while she was pregnant, my mom had an

ectopic pregnancy, and I am UD. Seems a little too coincidental to

me.
