Guest guest
Hi , I cruised around on the internet to see if I could find anything (I know you most likely are too, but 2 sets of eyes can sometimes be better than one!) and I didn't really find much. Are you being seen by a perinatologist? Hopefully you are because a perinatologist would be much more qualified to tell you whether or not you should worry. Also, from what I read, if your cervix continues shortening once you have a cerclage that you should go on bed rest. Has your doctor put you on bed rest? At this point I would say that you have a right to demand a doctor mandated (for work release) bed rest so you can know you've done everything you can to take all of the pressure off of your cervix. Also, if you'd feel safer being seen sooner than week 22 I would suggest that you request your doctor see you in one week. I think that doctors don't realize how long 2 weeks can be when you're stressing over the life of your baby. When you call your doctor's office, if they hesitate giving you an ultrasound visit sooner, I would remind them that you're coming up close to the time that you lost your first baby and that this is a very nerve wracking time. Is it possible to change doctors? I'm just surprised that your doctor refuses to measure your cervical length via ultrasound. I would lean towards getting a second opinion--even if it means paying out of pocket. Good luck to you and please keep us updated! Jasmine SU? BU? 1 loss @ 17 weeks > Hello ladies. Guest guest
Hi , First of all - hee hee - how funny that your boy is really a girl. Usually it goes the other way if there is a misdx on the first u/s. In any case, congrats! I can *maybe* help with your question by telling you where I am at with things. I am 30 weeks pregnant, my first pregnancy. I have a tshaped uterus and very short cervix. At my baseline cervical ultrasound it measured 2.6 cm. Mine is now measuring 2.4 cm (as of my 28 week checkup). Doc was not concerned about length, since it was on the short end to begin with. I am not on bedrest and no cerclage. If I were you I'd be cautious and watching for any other signs of PTL. It's good you have another u/s at 22 weeks. If it has gotten much shorter by then I would definitely ask more questions. It seems like the cerclage should keep that kiddo in there nice and tight but it never hurts to ask him how short your cervix can be and still keep that cerclage effective. Best wishes, Connilee > Hello ladies. I need your expert opinions. Last night we went to the > hospital because of lower back pain (severe) and a few other things. > Thank God it was nothing. Guest guest
, Keep up the bed rest. I was 2.4 cm when they put me on bed rest and I hung in there for 4 more months. Plus your last measurement was 3 cm. That may just be the length of your cervix so 2.4 isn't all that different. Try to stay calm and stay as horizontial as possible. Keels nkeels@... Guest guest
Hi : I also have a UU and three weeks ago my cervical length was 4.6 last week it measured 2.3 - that's why my dr pulled me out of work. I'm still not on bed rest but it was enough of a change for him to be alarmed. He wasn't as concerned about the total length, just the fact that it changed. I'm going back tomorrow for him to check me to make sure that I'm not dilating or efacing at all. I'll keep you posted on what he says tomorrow. -JenFabz UU, 30, 31w5d > Hello ladies.
