Guest guest
At one time some years ago, ear hair was a supposed indicator. My comparison was meant as an analogy using past " studies " as a means to establish a hysterical / historical link. Ear hair, often accompanied by an ear lobe crease was touted as a " statistically valid indicator " of a predilection for heart problems. My understanding is that this theory is not highly regarded at this time. This, I believe, will be the long term fate of the latest " study " . I am sorry if my comment made you angry. Guest guest
Dear Stef, Yes, no offense meant and none taken. I was joking in the hope that it would cure my afib prone heart-- another joke. My comment was in reference to the " fact " that anyone with afib has/had the choice of not getting this wonderful condition. When a media blitz like this happens, relatives and others sometimes pontificate to us how we should have their attitude, which has obviously made them immune. Many people have trouble living with life's uncertainties and try to deny the fact that " stuff " just happens. Such comments to us are cathartic to our " friends. " However in this case it is almost funny in that if we express our displeasure with these clowns, our response will be taken as a justification of their diagnosis that afib IS cause by anger. Enough of my pontification.... Don't worry, be happy.…
Guest guest
" DALLAS - Hotheaded men who explode with anger seem to be at greater risk of having a stroke or dying, new research shows. Their risk is even greater than men who are simply stressed-out Type A personalities. Angry women, on the other hand, don't run as high a risk of having a stroke or heart problems, according to a study released Monday in the American Heart Association journal Circulation. The study showed that men who express their anger have a 10 percent greater risk than non-hostile men of developing an atrial fibrillation, a heart flutter that 2 million Americans have. It is non-threatening for many, but it can also increase the risk of stroke. " http://tinyurl.com/3auwn So, it's a guy thing? :-)
Guest guest
I thought it was ear lobes attached to the head that indicated heart problems, not hair in the ear! rdelledu@... wrote: This makes me angry (Ha Ha). Again it is the fault of the afflicted. I have done some research myself, and the press releases do not indicate good science. Perhaps the researchers should consider two points; 1. People with afib do have a lot to be angry about. 2. Most likely, anger is a symptom of afib, not a cause. A comparison would be the studies that link hair in the ears to heart problems. According to the logic presented, anyone who removes those hairs will statistically improve the health of their hearts.
Guest guest
Angry? Are you kidding?? I'm Furious on behalf of everyone with ear hair..... but seriously.. I can't tell if you are joking, so I'd better let you know that I am, and that I was not the least bit angry... I'm sorry if my joke was in poor taste, as it was certainly not at all designed to lessen the point of your email.
