Guest guest
Sharon, I recently had a colon re-section and the anethiesiologist (sp?) told me the port could not handle the volume of fluids they would be giving me. Also the port is a great infection risk as it it a direct line to the heart. I'm sure that all nurses are not qualified to access a port either. Dale M. Guest guest
Dale, What you say makes sense. I just have no solution to the bad veins problem. When Mom had surgery in July, her arms looked like she had been beaten severely. Guest guest
Sharon, I know what you're going thru. I've seen so many people in chemo whose viens just were'nt accessible anymore. When the nursing supervisor at the clinic I went to couldn't get an IV in someone the doctors always wrote the order for a port implant. If it's bruising after the IV is out it's probably because they didn't wrap it tightly. That same clinic I went to always wrapped the IV sight tightly with the elastic bandaging and I never got bruises. Noone else ever does that and I always get a bruise. Dale M.
