I have COPD and chronic > bronchitis so I can relate!!! > xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Thanks, Debbie for your caring. Does your b/p go up when you are having difficulty breathing or a fever? Mine has been very low for a long time so I very rarely take it. About a half hour before I went to my doctor today (to make sure I didn't go into pneumonia) I decided to take my b/p. My sister also telephoned me at the same time and the conversation was less than desireable. My b/p was 195/110!!! I usually take Norvasc 2.5 mg. at night which I did, but I immediately took an extra one, my sotalol, and an Ativan. By the time I got to the dr''s office about 20 minutes later, my b/p was down to 150/80. Now, the dr. wants me to take it every morning for a week and if it is high all week, he will have me take one in the am and one in the pm. I think this is not a good week to begin this, for I am still in labored breathing with a lot of wheezing. Prior to this virus/bronchitis/sinus infection, my b/p was very low (almost too low) on only one every evening. I would always check my b/p about an hour or so after taking it; however, I don't think I ever check it in the mornings. Maybe it is high on most mornings and the illness doesn't have anything to do with it! Would appreciate hearing your thoughts on this. Thanks. Guest guest
Loretta, When I was on cardizem alone, my BP was always high and was still having breakthrough AF. However, my last hospital stay, the cardio added 25 mg of Toprol twice a day and it's been around normal since. The only time it gets high is when I get stressed........I've not noticed it during times of sickness. I'm glad they checked you for pneumonia, I get a pneumonia shot every 5 years (required for us COPD'ers), but still get hit with a new virus every once in a while. Do you have COPD? Asthma? Any lung problems? Doctors tell me that the Afib was a secondary diagnoses to my COPD. Hope you are well soon. Sorry I couldn't answer you BP question any better. " xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx > Debbie, I have had mild asthma for years and viral induced asthma and that is the only time it gets really bad. Do you take steroids when your lungs are bad? It seems that is the only thing that will calm my wheezing down. I tried Toprol but it was awful for me! Had a lot of break throughs and was so disoriented that I couldn't even function normally. I wonder why the afib was a secondary diagnoses to COPD? I have never heard of this before. Guest guest
http://www.rnceus.com/ekg/ekgafib.html Loretta: google atrial fibrillation copd, you'll find a lot of info. Also, Since I have Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary disease, I am on 2 oral inhalation steroids (advair and Combivent) and when I have an acute lung infection I take prednisone orally. Loretta, it sounds to me like you may have beginnings of COPD, have you consulted a pulmonologist? You really should be tested.
