Guest guest
Amy, Oh my goodness it sounds like you are miserable. I will be praying for you. It might not be a bad idea to go ahead and make an appointment with the ENT doctor now if the antiboitics are not working. Surely they should have been working by now. I am so sorry you feel so much pain. Don't worry about the board at all. The rest of the moderators will keep it covered for you. You just take care of you! Guest guest
I may be a bit absent for the next week or so.... I'm dealing with an infection in my jaw that isn't responding to antibiotics. I can't lay down at all to sleep as the pain becomes extremely intense, I'm fine as long as I stay standing up just a dull ache there....told my husband to strap me to the wall and let me sleep. Sleeping sitting up works to a point, I can get about 30 minutes before I have to get out of bed and pace for about 5 minutes to ease the pain up...then I can sit and sleep for about 30 minutes more. I'm going a bit insane due to lack of quality sleep and constant pain for going on 2 weeks now. I was taking the max dose of my Ultram for pain and it doesn't even touch it...told the doctor there isn't any reason to take the stuff if it's not doing anything. Since taking so much in the way of pain meds isn't doing my kidneys any good I quit taking the stuff. My dentist looked at my jaw and did an x-ray only to say there is nothing wrong with any of the teeth where the pain is...meaning the damn infection is in my jawline somewhere. If these new antibiotics don't do anything I already have a referral to the ear, nose, throat guy who took out my tonsils in Feb. Wish me luck that this new stuff works and this pain goes away....once I'm more coherent I'll be back. Amy G.
Guest guest
Amy, I'm sorry to hear you have been in such pain. How much of this (if any) do you think can be attributed to pred? The dueling combination of immunosuppressants and infection sounds frustrating. I just hope the new antibiotics do their thing and you get out of pain fast! Guest guest
Cy they think this is the same infection I had in July in my upper sinuses, that resurfaced in late Aug deep in the joint area of the jaw so much so that it pushed my teeth fully out of alignment (it didn't hurt that time round just the major mis-alignment of my jaw tipped me off to an infection), now the doctor feels it's moved into my lower jaw. We get it cleared up enough to send it into hibernation for a bit then it comes back....and yes we feel it's due to the long term pred usage messing up my immune system. He also feels, now, that there may be some sort of blockage, perhaps caused by my tonsillectomy back in Feb, as I've had a few problems on this left side since then...and it's the side that took forever to heal after the surgery.
