Guest guest
Terri .. I had very little pain ... That was what stopped me from getting it a long time ago ... A friend of mine told my that it hurt really bad .. So I guess it all depends on the person ... I am a big baby when it comes to pain .... This surgery was the best thing I've ever done for myself ... I've lost 93lbs since April and I feel like a whole new person ... Good luck ... If you have any questions we are a pretty open group and it seems like some one always knows the answer ... Ellen

Guest guest
Hi Terri, I think you'll find a lot of insight on this list. Where is the Bariatric Treament Center? I think most of us thought about chickening out at some point, and it's better for you to proceed with surgery only when you're mentally ready. You should never feel rushed or forced. Of course, we all know how the physical pain of obesity catches up with you, and you realize how much worse it is than the pain of surgery. Honestly, I didn't think the pain from surgery was that bad. I've had back pain that was much worse. Feel free to vent and ask questions here. - Alice A. 4/25/00 236/153 Terri Nolan wrote: > > Hello All! > I am new to the group! Guest guest
Alice- The Bariatric Treatment Center is in Illinois! I live in Wisconsin, it is about two hours from here. The center ONLY does weight loss surgeries so they are very informative. When did you have your surgery?? How long were you off from work?? What types of things do you eat now?? Have you experienced the dumping syndrome?? Thanks for responding to me! Guest guest
Welcome aboard Terri! Where is the Bariatric Treatment Ctr located? Is that at NEMC in Boston? I was scared, nervous, excited, and whatever else came my way, but I knew this was the best decision for me, despite all my " anxiety " I may have had. I was scared knowing how much excess weight I carried, nervous about being in crowds, fitting in seats, walking without dropping dead, so I thought that by being all of the above for the right reasons, were better than ANY! Dawn new to the group! Hello All! I am new to the group! I went to the Bariatric Treatment Center last April to consider surgery! I " chickened out " after going to the appointment and hearing about the pain! I have since decided the pain would be better than the " pain " I feel on a daily basis both physically and emotionally. My insurance has approved the surgery and I am now on the road to get the surgery done. I am scared and very nervous. Do any of you have any insight?? I am glad I found the group! Thanks!
