Guest guest
Hi Everyone, I talked to Jody last night, going to meet her and her dh in person this Sat. She told me I should post what my doctor told me about going off PTU. In July of 2000, I went off of PTU after being on ATDs for 5.5 yrs. My primary care D.O. told me that it would take six months to one year before I would feel like normal. It was just a little over a year to be honest. He said with the long period of time I was on it, that it would take some time for my body to adjust. That first year was difficult, the ups and downs, it was like being hyper all over again somedays and then some I would feel hypo. Sorta like this menopause stuff that is up and down but worse. Some days I was so sick I wanted to take the PTU again. It was after that year that I also started losing the weight I gained while on the PTU. It is coming slow, but it is coming. I made a milestone recently and hit the 50 lbs. loss. When I feel bloated I never weigh myself. I thought I had posted about this before in another post, but just in case I didn't or it was missed I wanted those to let you know who are going through the same thing or may in the future for the ones trying to reach remission.
