Hi Lee!

A very warm welcome to you! I am glad you found your way to us. That is

excellent that you have remained stable for 14 years. I am like you in that I

first had symptoms in my teens too, and now 30 years later I am still not quite

yet on dialysis. Like you, I firmly believe that my very strong faith in God

has sustained me and allowed me to really enjoy life, to cherish every single

day and really love my friends and family. I look at IgAN as a blessing in my

life.

I know Pierre mentioned this but I want to reinforce that cod liver oil is

not the fish oil that is used in the clinical trials, and as Pierre said may

even be dangerous to you. I do hope going back on the Ace inhibitor will help

you to get your protein back down. Please let us know when you get your next

labs done.

Welcome again!

Hi Lee,

It should be fish oil. If you go to www.igan.ca which is our sister site,

you will see an article that tells you why fish oil is bad, but the primary

reason is that Cod liver oil has high levels of vitamin A, which can build up to

toxic levels if you have chronic renal insufficiency. I cannot even take a

multivitamin with Vitamin A in it at my level of kidney function.

The article also has information on some of the recommended doses of EPA and

DHA that you should be taking.

The link directly to the article is: http://www.igan.ca/id67.htm

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Hi Lee,

Welcome to the group, I'm glad you found us. It sounds as if your

IgAN has been well controled if you have been living with it for 14

years now. How is your creatinine level sitting?

It's great to hear from people who have the slow progressing form

of IgAN, you guys are the majority when it comes to this disease.

Welcome again and hope to hear more from you in future,

Amy G.

not the best choice.
