Amy!!! An infected salivary duct is the cause of all your misery??? I am so

frustrated they did not find it earlier and get you properly treated. It

upsets me that you have had to suffer so much for so long.

I do not know anything about that antibiotic, but boy do I hope it solves the

problem and gets that salivary duct healed. I guess it is good news that it

was not an infection in the bone though.

I pray the Vicodan knocks you out enough so you can get a good night's sleep

tonight!

After yet another fairly sleepless night I called the ENT and got in this

morning. He checked things out and then stuck his finger in my mouth to

press along the jawline so he could find where the source of the pain

was.....if ever I wanted to deck an ENT today was the day. My eyes were

watering and I was doing my best not to bite him as he hit the spot in

question....an infected salivary duct just under the jawbone. He managed to

mess about a bit more and produced a small crystal like shard from the duct.

Needless to say the pain was a bit intense and I left there with a Rx for

yet another antibiotic, a strong one this time round.

So does anyone have any experience with Avelox (aka Moxifloxacin)? The

warning label is enough to make me want to stay in pain...any thoughts on

using this stuff, experiences good or bad? I'm going to wait until my hubby

is home from work to take my first dose in case I react to it. And I'm not

really keen on this warning stating " may be more sensitive to the side

effects of this drug if taking corticosteroids " ...great.... My husband said

he wasn't too keen on the " may cause mental/mood changes " warning either.

LOL!

At least I have a diagnosis and hopefully things will clear up with this

stuff. My ENT called my neph to ask about the dosing and my neph approved

the use of the antibiotic and the 400mg dose. Oh the ENT also gave me a Rx

for Vicodin....I should hopefully be able to sleep tonight (goddess I'm

looking forward to that!)

Infected salivary duct - I know someone who had that once. It can be quite

painful.
