Mark-breathing problems in pls

Dear Mark,

Thank you for all your information. You are always so helpful. Are there the

same kind of breathing problems in PLS as in ALS with exception to the speed of

progression? Thanks, Mark!

I have never heard of breathing problems in PLS.

I never could understand why UMN disease by itself doesn't affect

breathing. (I don't know the neuro-anatomy to know.)

But it is clear that destruction of the LMNs going to the diaphram

slowly stops the lungs from functioning in ALS.
