That way can pack them if needed. Once you go into early labor maybe you will have time to throw everything else together. I did buy travel items for deoderant, shampoo, toothpaste etc... I was reading somewhere else something that reminded me to make sure 's clothes are on the list in case he has to come home from work... Also remember a bathrobe and slippers. I know my hospital would not let you walk around in labor w/o slippers. My dh ended up going home every day to take a shower. We only live 10 min from the hospital. I know he wished the first night that he had brought sweat pants. Will be able to stay over? Who is going to watch ? If is staying over he should pack something he feels comfortable sleeping in and letting the nurses see. I forgot soap but they did have some there. Guest guest Posted October 19, 2001 Report Share Posted October 19, 2001 Ok, Amy, here are my suggestions: Pack a cheap toothbrush just in case you forget to pack yours...I packed the ones that the dentist gives you, and a toothpaste either sample or extra one. Clothes for the baby, go ahead a pick one outfit for a she and a he and put them in your bag....don't rely on dh to pick something cute, LOL! Just kidding, my husband wouldn't have a clue what to pack! For yourself, well I did pack a robe and a nightgown, I didn't wear the nightgown until the 2nd day though, I wore the hospital gown the first day with my robe. Pack slippers if you use them, I just wear socks. Pack the baby book if you have it, camera, extra camera battery, lots of film, charged camcorder...etc. One time I even took the announcements to the hospital and filled them out there (they matched the baby book that we already had) As for going home clothes, I always packed something with an elastic waist and a big shirt, usually some pants that you can get into now will work. If the weather is hot/cold like you said, just put in both a long sleeve and short sleeve shirt. If it is cold when you go to the hospital more than likely you will have a jacket with you then. Guest guest Posted October 19, 2001 Report Share Posted October 19, 2001 Pam, Actually the only way will be spending an entire night is if I'm in labor... We had already asked our neighbor if she would mind watching during labor (and after if I have to stay in longer, i.e. a section, while goes to school) and she said yes. Now it turns out we also have two more volunteers... one of 's teachers and the wife of someone goes to school (and goes to preschool with their son). Luckily we have that part covered and we can spread it out some if we need to... And then if my mom gets here before I go into labor then she'll stay with her... will go to the hospital for the early parts, though. When I can still talk to her and the pain is not so bad... I want her to know that where I am is okay. Anyway... I couldn't do the childbirth class bc they didn't have a Saturday class so I called to find out about l & d tours and they only do them on Wednesday nights... I'm going to call back today and find out if they can do one during the day for us since nights are not possible. I figure that's the best way for me to find out what this hospital provides and what we're on our own for. Hopefully they'll do it, bc I don't know anyone who has had a baby here...
