Hi Tonya,

Welcome!

You have been in quite a whirlwind with a new baby and breast cancer.

I hope the members close to your age group here will be able to

write in and tell you their experience as well,

I have had friends use the expanders and they have been very happy with their results

in their reconstruction....they ALL look fantastic!!! When we go out to gatherings we all run to the bathroom to see how our scars are healing and see all the new nipples and shapes- the tatoos are also incredible...this bond and type of support and having everyone so open to share how they look has been SO GOOD for me! NO modesty in my friends LOL

I have had so many friends have breast cancer and we are a tight group...we grab on to each other no matter where we are!

This incidence of cancer is like being somewhere and you hear someone call....NEXT IN LINE>>> it is everywhere.

I trust some other survivors your own age will come forward soon...

Enjoy your baby and again, welcome!

Andree

Tonya welcome to the group. We do have some ladies in their 30's. I am 60 headed towards 61 so that kind of leaves me out! LOL Plus I didn't have reconstruction.

Hi new to group.

Hello my name is Tonya, I am 36, I was diagnosed with breast cancer last July 26th 2005, I was 7 months pregnant, talk about shocked!!! I had a c-section at 37 weeks and my daughter is healthy and beautiful! I started chemotherapy 2 weeks after the c-section, went through 8 rounds of chemotherapy, had my mascetomy Feb 9th and now starting monday I am starting 6 weeks of radiation, WOW!!! I am ready for all of this to be over!! We went with the expander reconstruction, I guess it is going to all turn out ok? My plastics surgeon wants to do the Latissumis Dorsis procedure sometime around May or early June after radiation, it seems like a fairly decent surgery but everyone is different, the area here in Texas there is no one my age in the support groups so I feel I have no one to ask and talk about what I am about to face.....I would like to talk and chat with someone close to my age, someone that has some knowledge about this surgery. Hope to hear from you soon....Thank You :) Tonya

LoL...I'm glad you are ok!!! Did you have radiation? If I wasn't 36 I would not have reconstruction either, I wish I have never started this expander process! & nne Svihlik wrote: Tonya welcome to the group. We do have some ladies in their 30's. Tonya,

My Father was a Chicago fireman when I was small and our sons joined the volunteer fire/ambulance at ages 16 and 17. The younger one stuck with it and was eventually made Asst. Chief. He was on for 17 yrs and then moved to another state. We used to be the photographers for the fire dept. I have a special place in my heart just for firefighters :-)

Thanks Andree.....Yes It has been a whirlwind, top it off my Father died 4 weeks ago....he was in the hospital for about 3 months and the really horrible thing about that was I was not able to visit him on my bad weeks when my count was down, you know scared of getting an infection or the flu.... I did however get to see him the night he died......He knew however I had made it through the chemo ok and I was on the downhill side of all this hell....I am soo happy he atleast knew I was going to survive....That is great your friends are happy with their reconstruction! Hello Tonya, I am Jackie. I am 35 an was diagnosed in November 2005. I had a modified radical mastectomy Dec 16th with immediate Tram-Flap. After losing half of the tram because of a staph infection and extremally slow healing I still have not started my chemo. We hope I'll be released by the plastic surgeon to start at the end of March finally. I am so sick of being cut on and the complications I really do not know if I'll have the rest of the reconstruction after chemo. So my chest is lopsided as all heck with a portion of the reconstructed sided being flat. But after 3 surgeries since Dec. I'm at my wits end! So glad you found, but very sorry for the reason. The ladies here are really wonderful.
