Chemo induced hot flashes?.......I had hysterctomy 3 yrs ago please tell me the chemo isn't going to make my hot flashes worse than they are already.

Jackie

tooooo funny... I was pre-menapausal when I was diagnosed. So, my Onc tells me.

I had a uterine ablasion a year before this dx. That's where they burn the lining of your uterus so it doesn't bleed any more. (I was bleeding non-stop for over a year)

So, for the next year I was trying to decide if I was now in menopause. I kept thinking I was. When I got to the Onc she asked me if I was pre or post. I said I think I am in menapause. She asked why. I said sometimes I wake up sweaty. She said what else? Well, I don't have periods due to the ablasion. What else? I think I'm having the hot flash things at night and sometimes I feel dizzy like I got up too fast.

She said from what I described "You have NO IDEA what a hot flash is"

You are definitely pre-menopausal.

Okie dokie..

She then said but you will... because this chemo will throw you dead on overnight into menopause. Then she proceeded to explain to me just how bad a hot flash can be.

aaargh! Can't play fair, can they? Gotta get a woman when she's down!!! I start my taxol (dose-dense) this coming Tuesday. In the same meeting the Onc assistant (physician's assistant) tells me that the taxol is going to require much more than the adriamycin/cytoxan regiment.

She said that the A/C was more a nauseas type problem, feeling sick, etc.

The taxol will cause moderate to many times severe bone and muscle pain along with sharp pains in the abdomen ans stomach. (from the depletion of amino acids) Could still have nausea but they can control that part. Oh yeah...sore fingers, feet, toes, rash, peeling, etc! aaaargh!!

On top of that I get to do hot flashes! What a way to hit a girl when she's down. :-)
