Guest guest Posted August 27, 2005 Report Posted August 27, 2005 i'm not really sure of any of the names. i've tried a lot of different wines though... ex boyfriend worked in a real high class restaurant and used to make me try all kinds of stuff... to no avail. i just never developed a taste for it. beer is the same... at the beginning of college, people used to say, keep drinking, by the end of college you'll acquire a taste for it... nope, never happened. it's just too yucky. if i'm drinking, i drink the sweet stuff. if i'm watching calories i would do the diet coke and bacardi light. my dad travels up to the finger lakes in ny state every summer and brings back some really delicious flavored wine - peach, raspberry, blueberry.... but i'm sure there's added sugar in them. i guess i'm just not a wine drinker. risa wrote: >sorry, i HATE wine. too vinegar-y, not sweet enough. the boones is just>the right amount of sweet with no vinegar taste.time to get off the boones - if there's no taste of fermentation, it's too sweet.have you tried rieslings, vouvrays, muscatels/moschatos, or any of those dessert-ish wines?~risa Yahoo! Finger Lakes wine! since i grew up in that area there are many wineries with which i'm VERY familiar... and a few of them are familiar with me the following Finger Lakes fruit wines do not use sugars beyond what their regular wines would use: Goose Watch's Bartlett Pear Hazlitt's Brambleberry Hosmer's Raspberry Rhapsody Spook Hill's Blueberry (though they're north of the Finger Lakes) from what i remember, Arcadian's fruit wines use only a wee fraction more sugar. They specialize in fruit wines and they have a marvelous selection. Cool Hand Peach and Midnight Train Blueberry are my faves. avoid Swedish Hill's Radical Raspberry and *any* of the Earle Estates wines... while they're both extremely good (and Swedish Hill's other wines are great), there's a lot more sugar in their stuff. Earle is actually a meadery, so any of their fruit wines also include a blend of the more sugary honey wine as well. ~risa Quote
Guest guest Posted October 14, 2005 Report Posted October 14, 2005 Hi, Most people are tired and weak on phase 1. Day 3 was the day when I was weak and lightheaded. I think I'd wait til phase 2 to go hiking. ann > > I'm on my 3rd day of phase 1. I feel like I'm eating enough but today I felt very weak. My stomach seems to be hungry all the time. I'm not going by the menu in the book just the " foods to enjoy, foods to avoid " list. I'm going on a 7 mi. hike tomorrow and I'm not sure I'll make it....energy wise. I exercise regularly and have for some time, so fit won't be the problem. > I'm already tired of the food list for phase 1...HELP! > ANY helpful advice would be great! > Thanks! > Pam > > > > Quote
Guest guest Posted October 14, 2005 Report Posted October 14, 2005 I do a lot of hiking. When I was in P1 I felt like my legs were made of lead. Where I could have normally gone 6-10 miles, in P1 I found 3 was about the limit and I felt like crap just doing that. Once I got to P2 though I had tons of energy. I also found that having a lot of protein in the hiking snacks and lunch helped. My favorite hiking lunch is sardines (King 's is the best I've found) and Trisquits. I usually take a protein powder drink mix along as one snack. Peanut butter spread on ww tortillas and rolled up is another. Apples and nuts. Tuna in those pouches is good too, you can squirt a little packet of mayo that you get from a deli right in the pouch, stir it up and have it on crackers or a pita. Guest guest Posted October 14, 2005 Report Posted October 14, 2005 Another thing to keep in mind is that if you are already very fit, and don't have that much weight to lose, it may take a while to lose it. I started the diet June 6 with 14 pounds to lose, it has taken me this long to lose 12 of it. My BMI starting out was in the healthy range, so that is probably why. My current BMI is 23. I'm also 52 and have always eaten healthy and exercised regularly. So be prepared that you may not experience the big wieght drop in P1 that a lot of people do, but that doesn't mean the diet isn't working.
