Hello ,

I just wanted to say welcome. I think you will find this group

very helpful. I got a lot of help just by reading through the

archives as a lot of questions I had had already been asked by

someone else along the way. My 5 y.o. son just got his first pair of

hearing aids. Our ins. didn't cover them but we were able to do some

comparison between adiologists on our area and saved $1,000 on the

same type of hearing aids. I'm sorry i don't have any suggestions

for hearing aids in infants but there are several others on this

list that do or did (they're older now).

Welcome to the group Janice --- and congrats on your success so far.

Something that's worked for several of us here - as our rate of loss has

slowed -

is to make sure we eat all our activity points - as we burn more

calories, the body

seems to need the extra fuel. Maybe this will help you.

Again, welcome --- this is a real supportive - but " no-nonsense " group -

I think

you'll enhoy it.

I am sorry to hear about your cancer. We are all survivors here and will help you get through your rough times.

From What i am reading in this group many of our oncologists do things differently. My dr determined that I needed Chemo when the cancer spread to my lymph nodes. My first DX was in 1996. I had CMF the first time and radiation. I was clean for 7 yrs. Yes, I said 7 yrs. I thought I beat the beast. But low and behold, I started this cough that would not go away and had this pain in my shoulder blade that was bad. I knew something was wrong and wehn I went to the dr I knew it was back! I was devastated! but I did another round of chemo, this time I did Taxol, Carpoplatin and Herceptin. They tested me for the BRAC gene which I have and now I am on Herceptin indefinitely until they find a cure! Which One day they will!

We must all stay positive. I believe in power of pray and positive attitude. All my friends tell me that they never met a more positive person and that they do not think they could not go through what I did BUT I think they would! If it means surviving they would!

Anyway, ask them to test you for the BRAC gene. When I was dx in 96 they did not know about the gene. This is why I say, one day we will have a cure! 7 yrs after I had the cancer they found out about the gene. Without this research I would not be here today!

I know you are scared to death right now, but YOU WILL get through this. You will be ok. I think most of it depends on how far the cancer has gone. Keep in touch with us and we will all help you through this!

Hi June and welcome to the group. If at all possible take someone with you on Tues. Its easier for you as you probably won't remember half of what the surgeon is saying.

Ask about a mastectomy or lumpectomy. I opted for mastectomy and its been 15 yrs since my surgery. The drs say the survival rate is the same but a lot of ladies will say different. I have known women who opted for a lumpectomy only to go back later for a mastectomy. Ask how long you will be in the hospital and any other questions you may have about the surgery. I will keep you in my prayers.

HiMy name is June. Yesterday I received result from a biopsy that was done onWednesday. The lump in my breast is cancerous. That's all I know at themoment. I meet with a surgeon on Tuesday. Any advice on what to ask andhow to proceed would be greatly appreciated. I'm going to ask for a petscan. I know it's common to worry about it being more invasive but I've hadsome aches and pains in my ribs and lower back that I'm really worriedabout, especially now that I know about the breast. It is what we don't know that we worry about. I know for me that is what I do. I am learning more and more to trust God. It's not always what happens to us but what he does as he brings us through it.

Do not fear for I am with you. Do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

I will keep you in my prayers.

I remember them telling me it was cancer, I remember being so shocked, and hearing the words chemotherapy and radiation. As far as surgery, I did not know what to ask. Now I would want to know more about where it was located and how deep and what are my options.

Good luck and God Bless,

Ren

Hi

welcome in the group

I'm Lucilla, 2 and1/2 years BC survivor. I am the "noisy" one of the group (you'll see if you will follow us :-) ).

The pain in your back and ribs it maybe NOTHING, just anxiety and stress hitting you (...are you keep breathing normally ? ).

I may assume that the first thing you will have is a surgery to check on your limpho, to see if it has spread. They may remove them, to have them checked. My lympho were clear, so we opted for a lumpectomy, chemo and radiation. It is up to your oncologist. My new oncologist complained that my first oncologist was too aggressive, but I appreciated what he did, and if I had to go back I chose chemo again 100 thousand times.

Proceed one step at a time. I sense you as a very active person, very simple and effective in her days life. Generous, in all ways. I loved your quote on peace.

One step at a time. Keep the peace in your heart, and fear nothing.

Let us know what the surgeon said.

Hi

welcome in the group

Let us know what the surgeon said.

hugs
