As far as I know, Trix has never been GF. I just looked it up and it has wheat starch in it./ O'Connor wrote: I was at Sam's Club today and picked up a 3 pack of cereal (I don't know why, I don't eat it but you guys have me looking!). It was Cocoa Puffs, Trix, and Lucky Charms. According to the box, all but Lucky Charms was GF. For you cereal eaters, you might already know about Trix being GF, but if not, you might want to check the boxes at your store.

well maybe since some boxes of Cocoa Puffs are GF now, maybe they have decided to quit adding the starch to the others. It is a general mills product right? Of course, cocoa puffs wasn’t gf

either till now. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if they are actually trying to

reduce some of the allergens and gluten ingredients on purpose! Maybe they’ll

get to the adult cereals….she said while wearing her rose colored

glasses!

I did the same thing on the weekend, but didn't want to set off a

firestorm of us all going to look for individually packaged GF Trix

boxes until I could find an actual box around here to verify! :)

I read it and read it, and according to General Mills' policy, it

appears to be GF!

This would be so wonderful, but I won't tell my kids about it until I verify it 100%. Please share the UPC code for the Trix box cereal. I can't wait to find it. All this about the General Mills cereals suddenly being gluten free got me

wondering and I started researching GM cereals. I think this is what is

going on. With the new food pyramid that was put out last year, they are

highly recommending " whole grains " , versus refined grains. So General

Mills decided that they would start making ALL of their cereals with whole

grains. Here is one link to an article about it.

http://www.wholegrainlife.com/ There are actually a lot of articles about

it on the web. So since wheat starch is NOT a whole grain they are

eliminating it as an ingredient, as well as other flours. They are taking

the whole grains that are the base of each particular cereal and grinding

them in a way that keeps all of the parts of the grain in the cereal. So

if the corn is made from corn, then it will only have corn in it. This

means that some of their cereals will end up being gluten free, but not any

of the cereals that are wheat, oat or barley based. And many of their

cereals are a combo of different grains. So keep checking the labels on

the GM cereals, and we might end up with quite a few choices in the near

future! You can also look for the " whole grain " on the label or the little

wheat symbol on it (which I find ironic), but this is their little code for

whole grain. It does not always mean it is made from wheat.

Oh yeah, I also have to mention that I was so relieved to finally find the

GM Neopets Islandberry Crunch in my local SaveMart. The only bad part is

the price $4.49 a box! Ouch. I'm gonna have to start collecting coupons

and stock up when they go on sale!

No problem. I enjoy mysteries, and this was becoming one. I haven't found

the GF version of Coco Puffs yet. Now I have to keep my eyes out for Trix.

Actually the one I am hoping they do soon is the Kix cereal. We already

know they can make the Islandberry cruch balls to ge only corn, so why not

Kix! I like the Kix because they are lower in sugar.

I also noticed a type-o in my post, of course I meant " So if the cereal is

made from corn, then it will only have corn in it. " Not if the corn is made

from corn. Duh, of course corn is made from corn! :)
