Hi Mindy. =)

I had reached my " -100 pounds " goal 3 days before my positive pregnancy test. I

ate

very healthy and lost 15 pounds the first trimester (not uncommon, even with

moms

who haven't had WLS). I stayed the exact same weight (216-219, fluxuating) for

the

2nd and 3rd trimesters. I was 218 when I delivered my son (at home). That was

8

months ago, and I currently weigh 136.

Starting weight was 331 pounds. I am 5'2 " tall.

I'm glad to be part of this group...and hope that I'm able to help answer some

questions some of you might have. (considering what I do for a living. *grin*)

Congrats! I too am about 10 weeks and I too just bought some maternity

clothes. My last pg I was lucky to find any clothes that fit. LOL I just

kept getting bigger plus sizes! Not this time - I just got great deals on

three maternity tops and 1 pair of maternity pants. I was lucky enough to

have save two pair of pants that I bought while in the rapid weight loss

period. They were still like new so I held on to them - I am so grateful for

that.

Did they give you a due date at all? Mine is December 18, 2003! I go for my

official ultrasound on Monday. I am nervous - guess I just want to see the

little one to really believe it is real. I have been making myself crazy

lately with fears of miscarry or something being wrong. I don't know why

because I wasn;t like this wioth with 4 year onld son who was pre-wls.

Just nerves kicking in I hope!

Best of Luck -

I am so happy for you!!! : ) : ) : ) You keep referring to the baby as

" she " ... is this indicative of some kind of new technology that I'm not

aware of yet? lol Oh... and if you want a repeat C, there's no reason you

couldn't. I did *exactly* the same thing as you -- only got to a 4 after 22

hours, failure to progress, etc... and I did some reading and found out that

" failure to progress " was almost a certainty that a VBAC next time around

would be unsuccessful. If had been a breech baby and that was why

she had to be delivered by C, then there's a good chance you could do a VBAC

and be successful. That's when I decided " to heck with the 22 hours of

misery, I want to pick my baby's birthday if there's a next time " ... I know

there are lots of differing points of view on this subject, and I respect

them, but that's just what I felt was best for me personally.

I also was a failed induction, failure to progress. I started on Jan 17th and

finally had a c-sec on the 19th after only getting to 4 cm. I'm going to choose

a repeat c also.

Thanks for the advice. I just wish my surgeon wasn't so closed-minded about

the whole process. He's actually making things harder on me by being so

critical.

All I can do is hope and pray for the best and do what the nutritionist

tells me to do.

Thanks again,

Haley

haley....dont do it!!!!

they told me the same thing. they told me i would die and my baby would

be

stupid. i didnt and thank god i didnt. it will be very hard on you and

your body but you can do this. they told me that if the baby made it (and

that was a big if) she would be horribly small (she was 7 lb 5 oz). i had

a

friend that terminted many years ago and has never forgiven herself.

take a deep breath and eat extremely healthy and stick around...please?

Ya know...it's really a pet peeve of mine that these bariatric surgeons, who

know

nothing at all about pregnancy (and not even that much when it comes to

nutrition,

which is why they HIRE nutritionists!) are giving obstetrical advice about

pregnancy.

WHY?? WHY WHY WHY do they feel qualified to say ANYTHING about

pregnancy? I mean...they might as well be giving advice on the best way to hang

curtains in your living room.

I could understand it making them nervous...and I could understand them

referring

women to midwives, OB's, nutritionists...heck, even perinatologists. But to be

giving

advice on that which they haven't a clue..I just don't get it. And it rubs me

the wrong

way. (and they scare all of these women needlessly at a time when they feel

most

vulnerable!)

pet peeve of mine.

It's pretty rare... less than 1.2% of the world population is diagnosed with it.

It's not hereditary or related to hormones. Odd thing is, it's mainly seen in

the geriatric population... now I qualify for geriatric maternity (lol) but not

REAL geriatrics - seen in the over 70 population, but has been seen in a few

early 40 year olds. Hey, I'm not quite 40 yet, I still have a few months to

enjoy my 30's!

Biopsy was performed yesterday and I should have the results either on Friday or

Monday... crossing fingers.

Here's the lowdown on it:

Sebaceous gland carcinoma

This rare cancer primarily affects the meibomian glands of the eyelids and to a

lesser extent the Zeiss glands, which produce the oily layer of the tear film.

These tumors most commonly occur in the upper eyelid and are usually firm and

painless, often with a yellow tinge. Sebaceous gland carcinomas are highly

aggressive and frequently metastasize. They are often mistaken for a benign

condition, such as chronic blepharitis or a chronic chalazion (nodule formed by

inflammation of the meibomian gland). This delay in diagnosis can result in

metastasis to the orbit (bony socket surrounding the eye) or to the lymph nodes.

Re:

wow . I had checked several references but haven't been able to

locate anything about it. How rare did the optho say it was? It it

something hormonally related or hereditary? I will have you in my thoughts

and will ask if I see one of the perinatologists I work with.

:)

Best wishes and prayers for a complete recovery!

It was right with both my kids. I'd guess that it's probably right about

half the time. It's all pregnancy hocus pocus...probably designed to keep

My experience was the exact opposite.

Pregnant at 300 pounds (318 at the end)...and then

concieving 5 months postop and down 100 pounds was

WAY WORLDS easier. not tht I'm recommending it..just

that for me it was so much healthier and easier...a pure

joy to be pregnant. =) Can't wait to do it again..
