Guest guest Report post Posted May 1, 2003 I did a fasting test rather than the glucose test. I went first thing to the lab to have my blood drawn. Then ate a " normal " breakfast (normal for me, not what is normal for everyone else), then exactly 2 hours after my last bite of breakfast I had another blood sample drawn. My blood sugar was good so there was no worry. I don't know what they would have done if it hadn't been good. (I knew it would be ok though, as this is my 4th baby and I'd never developed GD before so I felt safe.) As for resuming weight loss ... ask me again next week. I'm delivering tomorrow! I've been nesting like crazy this week though and all the manual labor has allowed me to lose 5 pounds. I had gained 6 pounds very quickly so I'm sure I've just shed the water I had retained but it was awesome to see the scale number go down a little. Hey Girls... I have a couple of questions. I am 28 weeks pregnant, 1 year post op surgery. This is my 3rd baby. The last two were both over 11 pounds. I did not have gestational diabetes. I lost 103 pounds in 6 months prior to pregnancy, and only 22 since. 1. How are you doing the glucose tests? I tried to take the glucose and had it coming out both ends within 20 minutes. 2. Do you resume your weight loss after the birth? Thanks, Mindy Open RNY 4-26-02 Mom to Dalton 2-25-98 and Carley 8-18-
Guest guest Report post Posted May 1, 2003 Mindy, I have a had a pre and post-op pregnancy. You need to do the fasting gluecose test. For me it entailed fasting for 12 hours then taking a blood test. I got pregnant at 7 weeks post-op. I lost 60 lbs before conception, 31 during the pregnancy and 77 lbs in the first 8 weeks post-partum. So, for me the weight loss did continue. Hoep this helps. Good luck and Best Wishes! D. Guest guest Report post Posted May 1, 2003 Sheila, I hope that you can wean him off of Nutramigen- so expensive. Well, I hope the babyfood goes better this time, and that the 2nd tooth comes thru soon. I bet the little tooth stub does look adorable though! Glad things are going well! Guest guest Report post Posted May 1, 2003 WOW HEATHER, 77 pounds since the delivery???? Wish that had happened to me!!!!! But I was over 2 years out when I had , so DARN! lol Marcy Re: > > Mindy, > I have a had a pre and post-op pregnancy. You need to do the fasting gluecose test. Guest guest Report post Posted May 1, 2003 Marcy, Actually alot of that weight-loss probably happened during my pregnancy, but I was carrying so much water weight the last 8 weks! I had severe Edema of the legs, feet and abdomen.
Guest guest Report post Posted May 2, 2003 , Sometimes when we dont share, we think we are the only ones going through something, and actually we might not be. It does help to share, if even to help someone else. Glad you are better though! Sounds quite painful. Marcy Re: *Tummy Expanding Too Early* > > Thanks Marcy... > I hated to share that with you guys, I wanted to spare the details of you know what I mean. But, I don't want anyone to have to go thru what I did. > > > >
Guest guest Report post Posted May 3, 2003 , I too decided not to tell friends and family for longer then usual. I had complications after wls, and I was severely disabled for a year and 7 months before getting pregnant. I had just been doing a lot better right before we found out. I didnt want to put my family OR my little girl through any un needed stress until we knew everything was ok. After an initial scare early on in my pregnancy everything with the baby was just fine though, and it was SOOOOOOOO hard not telling everyone around us. We waited until I was 4 months and then told the family at the same time with the exception of my sister who knew first. They weren't stressed at all, very happy. So I know how you feel, it is SO hard not telling. I too was excited about being able to buy maternity clothes anywhere I shopped. Congrats to ya, and I hope all is still going well! Marcy SHARON > HI > I FIGURE I AM ABOUT 6 WEEKS OR SO AND ITS AMAZING. Guest guest Report post Posted May 4, 2003 When I had my ultrasound at 4 weeks, they were talking about ectopic since they couldnt detect anything in the uterus, what a nightmare, to have these so called professionals basically teling you the pregnancy probably isnt viable...very very scary..but I am now 29 weeks and he is very healthy
Guest guest Report post Posted May 4, 2003 No kidding! If the Dr. or US tech tells you the heartbeat will be visable at 6 wks and it is not yet, then of course you as the mother get upset and are a nervous wreck!
Guest guest Report post Posted May 4, 2003 There you go Sheila!!! You were a nervous wreck, as they had you thinking the worst case scenario and here is baby Christian...healthy and beautiful!
Guest guest Report post Posted May 4, 2003 I am also 29 weeks, and I need to make this short because I need a nap..hehehehe...I am also very very tired, there were a few weeks where I felt great, i was able to do lots of housework etc and feel fine, now if i dont get things done first thing in the morning, it is almost impossible, my blood work is also great!!!!!.....I am not sure what to do about blood sugar, I know if mine is low, I will feel lightheaded..and shakey....but its a pregnancy thing I believe..good luck Robin RNY 2/27/2002 E.D.D 7/20/2003 5 precious children to light the way
Guest guest Report post Posted May 5, 2003 , I understand what you are saying....I was just telling some poeple that I know I sound like I am complaining, but I am loving every second of it..so like you said, only a pregnant woman would understand that....good luck, and I too found out so soon, I knew at 3 weeks, test confirmed it at 4 weeks...(2 weeks fetal age) time will go fast, it has gone extrememly fast for me Robin RNY 2/27/2002 E.D.D 7/20/2003 5 precious children to light the way
Guest guest Report post Posted May 5, 2003 Congrats on " feeling " pregnant ! My symptoms are pretty simple. I'm 6 weeks now and basically just feeling the boob thing. I was a lot more tired a week or two ago, but not so bad this week. Other than that I feel pretty good. My hubby is so excited and everyday saying things like " how's the Mommy doing " (even though I " ve been a mommy twice already) but I don't really feel pregnant and keep telling him that I don't really feel pregnant and don't feel like anything exciting is happening 'til I'm about 12 weeks. I can't wait 'til I really feel pregnant and can really start doing the preggo things. Muah! Liza ok, its official...i now feel pregnant. i though for a while that my body was playing a really cruel joke on me but i gave in now. my belly feels like it weighs a ton (i think i need one of those baby slings to carry it around) but that was my first clue. now i have that awful hormone headache, what i call the preggo poopies (can i please borrow some of you constipation problems just for a day..then you can have it back : ), my boobs are killing me (and for some reason kristen always has to bump them or lean against them) but i love it. nobody but a pregnant lady could understand...right? i too am having lots of trouble eating and my docs are concerned too. i didnt worry about it when i just had me to take care of but now i am. i dont have the terrible nappies like i did last time but of course, im not 3 months out either. i go to the doc on the 14th then hopefully he will order a ultrasound quick after. i am dying to know how far i really am...somewhere between 8 (according to me) and 3 (according to that nurse) weeks. i cant wait to prove her wrong. i am leaning more towards the 6-8 week mark. we will see i guess. it doesnt really matter when...what really matters is that i am : ) sorry to ramble. i have nobody else i can tell yet!! julie
Guest guest Report post Posted May 5, 2003 , You ramble ALL you want!!! I'm glad you are feeling the pregnancy (although some od those " feelings " arent so swell all the time lol). Wow you sure have a long span of how many weeks you could be. I'm looking forward to hearing when you are due. Good luck to ya!!! Guest guest Report post Posted May 7, 2003 I've read this happens early in the first trimester, not because of the pressure on the bladder, but because of the extra fluids the baby is creating. Feel free to correct me anyone, if I'm wrong. Muah!
