I really don't understand the waiting game. I also don't understand why no

one prescribed a diuretic before this. I don't believe the procedure to remove

fluid is dangerous but why did they wait so long.

If your Mom had High Blood Pressure prior to this. This amounts to

malpractice I have BORDERLINE high blood pressure as a CAREGIVER and I have to

be on a

diuretic.

I hope I'm not being to forward but it sounds like her primary physician is

giving up on her. This happened to me with Phil.

If I had followed that Dr.s advice Phil would have died a year ago!

I would STRONGLY recommend another Dr.

I don't know what the prognosis is for recurrence but I do know chemo and/or

surgery helps and that she can have quality and quantity of life. If this

" arsehole " Dr. won't move on this find one who will! This is totally

unacceptable.

Sorry to be so harsh but I've been through this and it makes me so angry that

Dr.s put people through this when there is so much hope. It is like they

couldn't be bothered.

Remember they work for YOU so if he can't be bothered play Trump and

tell him YOU'RE FIRED!

Take Care & God Bless,

Narice

I posted back on the 14th and 15th regarding my Mom. My Mom is

having the fluid build up in her abdominal area and also looks like

she has a recurrence of tumors inside and outside her colon. My Mom

scheduled an appointment for a second opinion at a cancer center

which I'm very happy about. The only problem is they can't see her

until January 6th because they are extremely busy. She is having so

much trouble with this fluid that she went back to her doctor and

told him what I had found out about this fluid and can't they drain

this. The doctor says yes they can drain this and they do it all the

time. Why didn't this idiot suggest this a long time ago? He waits

for us to find out about it and suggest it. I hope the cancer center

will be more help to my Mom. My question is how dangerous is this

treatment of taking the fluid out? My Mom is so miserable--her blood

pressure is extremely high and she can't eat or drink and is having a

hard time breathing. The fluid is starting to go into her legs too.

The hospital that will do this treatment said this should help with

her problems. My Mom is going on Wednesday to have this done--I pray

she'll be okay. If something happens to her, this will be my fault

for suggesting it. My Mom is going to wait until after she goes to

the cancer center to decide if she should go with more chemo

treatments. Is there any hope with this? Can people have

recurrences and have this fluid build up and get better? I'm so glad

I found this board because I feel like there's hope out there.

Thanks for your help.

I totally agree with you. I told my Mom how unhappy I am with this

doctor and now since she brought up the idea of having the fluid

drained how suddenly he says this is a common procedure. Why didn't

he tell her about this a long time ago? I agree I don't like his

attitude--I feel he's giving up too and this really had an effect on

my Mom. She's starting to sound more hopeful now that this procedure

will be done and that she will be going for a second opinion. I'm

hoping the cancer center will give her a better feeling for the

future and that she will get rid of these tumor growths.

My Mom never had a real problem with high blood pressure--there were

times it would be higher but it was during stressful times--it would

be in a normal range most of the time. It is definitely way out of

control now. The people at the hospital said the fluid build up is

making her blood pressure so high and hopefully this procedure will

bring it down.

Thank you so much for your help.
