Guest guest
Where are some good sites to get a lot of information to about surgery in stage 4? I'll be exploring our site of course but I'd like some good solid information so we are ready with all the risks vs. benefits and ask the right questions when we meet with the surgeon and Oncologist Jan. 10. THANKS Narice
Guest guest
Narice, I'm not sure where surgery is currently being contemplated, but one of the first articles I came across when I started researching, and what I still think was the best overall overview, is at this link: http://caonline.amcancersoc.org/cgi/content/abstract/45/1/50 It is a little outdated, but it provides an understandable explanation of the benefits of surgery, some of the considerations as to what makes a good/not good candidate, etc. As I said, things are about 9 years later, and there are some methods available now that he doesn't mention (like RFA, oxaliplatin, Avastin, etc), but what he says generally I think still applies. I always like looking at the new trials they are doing also. http://www.livercancer.com/treatments/ablation.html http://cancer.gov/search/ResultsClinicalTrials.aspx? protocolsearchid=1339736 Again, Best of Luck to you all!
