Guest guest
Seth, You may be onto something here---I'm tracking myself in this regard and by golly! don't know if its bacterial or what but the diarrhea like symptoms flushing and bumps seem to be connected; I've upped my intake of acidophilus/etc liquid, and capsules...certainly can't hurt! and also am trying to remember to be " better " about my drinking quantities of water--which I've fallen off of lately, due to travel Thanks! Guest guest
Rob this sounds very interesting. Especially if you are in a pinch and have run out of whatever product you use. My question is does the food coloring stain your skin? Also how is it if the sunscreen and tint if it should get on your clothes? Does it wash out well? I am glad this works for you. Thanks for sharing your info. Bobbye

Guest guest
Hi a We all have different ailments here. I am one of the few that dont have a severe case of rosacea. My skin cannot tolerate a lot of skin care products (make up, moisturisers, cleansers, etc). In the begining my face had a very bad rash and it burned and itched. It was very very red. I also had hot flushes. When I finally went to my dr. he knew right away. I was lucky because a lot of doctors dont know what rosacea is. I had the papsules but not bad. I know from reading the posts here alot of the group has it very badly. Keep reading and writing your questions. I am sure a lot of the people will let you know what other problems there are. I am one of the few that does not have to take antibiotics. I use metrogel (most of the group cannot use it either) and I keep my skin very clean.I dont wear a lot of make up but do once in a while. (I never did wear alot of make up when I was younge either). I use moisteriser and sun screen religiously. I spent a lot of money and time finding products that work for me. I hope you dont have to. Good luck, Bobbye

Guest guest
Rob, Sy carries the tinted " Zinc-O " cream; it's light but I notice that it does blend into the skin tone; I can use a beige-y translucent powder and a bronzer powder as a " blush " and this gives me good coverage. I too, can only use the zinc on my face as a sunscreen--it's healing rather than making me go into big lumps/bumps, which is precisely what the heat does to me. I think your idea of using food coloring is neat; I never thought of doing that to micronized zinc sunscreens which can leave one looking rather ghostly! Good luck to you Carol hartmannr_@... wrote: > > I am new to the group, and have been very interested to read many of > the messages concerning the treatment of rosacea. Guest guest
What are fever blisters?
Guest guest
Sherri, I only take Valtrex when I have fever blisters (I begin when I feel the first tingle), but lately that has been daily. I have had 6 fever blisters since last Tuesday. Between the Valtrex (oral) and the Denavir (topical) they don't last long, but another pops up as soon as the first one starts to subside. I often wonder that if I didn't take anything and just let them get big and gross, would I have fewer of them? But I'm getting away from your questions. I take Valtrex when I flare, but that seems to be at least 50% of the time. I don't know if hives are caused by a virus, but fever blisters, shingles and chicken pox are all somehow related, as I understand. (For what it's worth, I didn't have chicken pox until I was 27.) Could hives be related to shingles? I haven't noticed any side effects with the Valtrex, but between roscea (I'm not on meds for that), allergies (3 daily meds) and the near constant fever blisters, I've got to wonder if it's all related. Also, I'm in the middle of 3 weeks worth of antibiotics (Tequin) for a sinus infection I can't seem to shake. And, of course, weekly doses of Diflucan, due to the antibiotics. I'm beginning to sound like that Saturday Night Live character with all the prescriptions! Sorry for turning the rosacea support group into the fever blister support group! Guest guest
They are the virus Herpes Simplex 1, also known as cold sores. They are blisters that pop up primarily on lips, or around your mouth and nose. They can be spread to other areas -- when I wore contact lens, I got one on my cornea from rubbing/scratching my eyes without washing my hands. They feel hot and they throb. The onset is usually connected to a flu-type illness, menstrual cycles or stress. I'm ranting because for about 6 months, I have had them weekly. Since joining this group, I now try to find a possible connection between rosacea and every malady I have. Ruth Re: (unknown) > What are fever blisters? Chemically " dependent " people may or may not know the risks of using nor the pain (to whatever degree)the behavior brings to someone else. It doesn't really matter to them because using is their top priority. They probably know this, too. " Addicted " people, on the other hand, are ambivalent about what they are doing. They know they like to get high but they are also troubled by the consequences of their behavior. They wish they could moderate but attempts to do so are usually unsuccessful. These people typically look for specific ways to quit using for good. What are thoughts about this distinction? Guest guest
Ron is asking us what we think of Rational Recovery's distinction between " chemically dependent " and " addicted " . To me, what Ron has written, quoting RR, merely seems like RR's own arbitrary definitions. RR has applied these labels to people who do these things. I, personally, do not find those definitions particuarly useful. But YMMV, of course, and others may well be able to use these definitions. <sigh> I'm chemically dependent. I have asthma and sometimes depend on using an asthma inhaler. And I have elevated blood pressure for which I take medicine. Guest guest
It is precisely when people make these sorts of distinctions that differ from the normal usage of words that the words start to become meaningless. > > > My text favors using " dependence " in place of > > " addiction " and so do I. > > People can and do move in and out of dependence, > > although it might > > not be a simple or easy process. In fact, your example makes a good argument for the arbitrary way that RR creates it's definitions. I think I'll need my dictionary. Another question? What exactly is a Quaker. That's what Charlotte Kasl claims to be...makes me kinda uneasy. Do people get upset with all these questions? Cause I have so many. In my group--they would get perturbed, and say, if-- god wants you to know he'll reveal it to you....so guess what? he must....found you people. (that's a joke) So far you all have been great, letting me blow off steam, and throw in my two cents worth. Never went to college(I know, you can tell) but I love to learn. And I've missed so much--lots to make-up for. And when I'm reading or trying to learn something, I'm not so furious nor plotting to destroy a individual's plans. There is one thing I can't get away from, and I'm not sure what to do about it. The other people that are stuck there....and one inparticular. She was my sponsor, it's her husband that was the main guru. She has two older children from a previous marriage, I think he blackmails her, using them. (If need be, this could be proved by school records and the hospital. A few strange eposides happened). They meet in AA. He was her sponsor. Seven years later, six of his kids--she will probably be pregnant again. I think she knows something is wrong, very wrong, maybe in the last 2 1/2 - 3 yrs. She always cryed alot---now I think I know why. He was always around when her sponsee's were there, and he also did all the fifth's. She never goes anywhere...and so much more. I cry for her. I don't know how to help her-or-if she wants help. We have not spoken for over 5 months. Until I have a plan, I do nothing. netty
