HI Bonnie,

I don't want to discourage you, but I was one who did not tolerate Cellcept

well. I started on a 2000 mg per day dose, and had problems with nausea, and

also diarrhea. I was lowered to 1000 mg after a month and remained on that

dose for another two months. My dosing was half in the morning and half at

night. I do not know if they dose according to weight, but I am pretty thin so

that may have made it harder on me. The nausea was better at the 1000 mg dose

and in following 's advise to take it with food, but I still had mild

diarrhea the entire time. It was not a fun drug for me, and since my function

was

still declining on it after 3 months my Neph and I decided it was not worth the

side effects I was experiencing. I think in my case my function was already

too low when I started the Cellcept and perhaps it would have had better

results if I had tried it earlier in the game.

If I had to start it again, I would personally take 's advise from day

one and take it with food.

I wish you all the best in the study and hope you get some positive results.

Love it Betsy, Thanks! I reviewed the info on the link you provided. Myfortic

looks like a gem. Too bad it wasn't available to when she had tried

Cellcept. Were your son's symptoms of abdominal cramping and diarrhea a daily

problem? Just curious, cause it sounds like a very common problem to many on

site here. Bonnie

changing him to Myfortic,

which is similar to Cellcept but is enteric coated, in hopes it will

reduce the cramping and diarrhea problems. Here's a link:

It was an interesting pattern. When he started on it, he took a

half-dose for a week or so and eased into the full amount. He had some

mild nausea at the beginning, but the prilosec seemed to help a lot.

Then he had a period of time with no slignificant problems, but then

the past several months it's been getting worse and worse to the point

that it's been a daily problem. His neph thinks it's due to acid surges

caused by the Cellcept, so we are hoping the enteric coated version

will do the trick. The neph also recommended doubling the prilosec dose

if needed.
