Guest guest
What medications are you one. You know, a lot of the effects of IgAN that people mention about are really medication side effects. IgAN itself doesn't cause bruising that I know of, but chronic renal failure can if it's advanced enough. It tends to affect the clotting factors to some extent, so that might cause more easy bruising. I'm just one person, but I never found I had particular easy bruising as an adult. I sure had it as a child though, way more than normal. My legs were always covered with bruises (and I really mean covered). I was very active, and rough and tumble, but so were my friends - and I was the only one with that level of bruising. In those days, things like that weren't really paid much attention to. I don't know if it might have been related. I personally don't think we catch or develop IgAN at any particularly time. We are probably born with it, as a systemic condition, which is only discovered when it's starts affecting the kidneys enough to show up on tests. Pierre Bruising problem > Hi again. Guest guest
, Both of my daughters bruise easily. Increased bruising can happen with anemia & they are sometimes anemic, but the bruising happens whether there blood counts are normal or not. I don't know if it's because of the IgAn, but it seems to be a companion to it for them. Sue > Hi again. I have a question. Guest guest
, I have problems with bruising normally the few days prior to my period starting then it lasts thru my period....could be caused by mild anemia I guess. I started noticing my arms and legs bruising easily a few months prior to my diagnosis before I was on any drugs or supplements. I even brought it up to my doctor. In the past I would bruise when I bumped into things but these new bruises seemed to be coming out of nowhere. I'd wake up with them some days with no idea how I got them. I have yet to get a doctor's explanation for why I bruise so easily now....instead I wear a lot of long sleeved shirts. Good luck with yours! Amy Bruising problem Hi again. I have a question. When all of this IgAN stuff started with me about a year and a half ago, I started developing bruises on my legs for no reason. It was like little blood vessels popping or something. I asked my Neph about it and he didn't seem to think it was anything to do with IgAN. But when they went to do my biopsy my blood wasn't clotting and they had to postpone the biopsy several times because of this. Then when I finally had my biopsy done he was concerned about my blood not clotting and kept me overnight at the hospital. So I went to my family doctor and he ran some blood tests but they all came back ok. We finally decided that I was bumping into something with out knowing it and passed it off as that. But now they are starting again. And I know I'm not bumping into things!!! Was wondering if anyone else was having problems with unusaul bruising. As always, thanks for listening.
