I haven't had radiation yet but I've bought myself a big aloe vera plant. I intend to gut the inner goop and put it on my skin. Talk with the radiologist about this, I'm not a doctor and don't even play one on TV. But I've been told that AV is the best treatment for radiation burns.

I see my radiologist again in the morning, and have had to put treatments on hold for a couple of days...maybe longer. The skin has just seemed to vanish, split, slough off on its own! They told me to keep neosporin on it, but dang, it hurts! Any good advice, or is "french-fried" the norm?signed: the Crispy Critter (aka. ann, soon to be burnt offering!)_

I recommend using from a live plant whenever possible. If you buy it from a store make absolutely sure it doesn't have alcohol in it. Alcohol, burns, not good. Most of the stuff you buy in a bottle has other things, like alcohol, in it that can aggravate burns or radiated skin. This is why I opted for the plant. But I live in CA where aloe grows very well. I've known people who were successful growing large plants indoors in other climates. The plant I have is pretty big. If I'd get it out of the damn pot and put it in the ground it would get twice as big. I'll have to have hubby work on it this weekend.

Hi, Thats was what I said the last week "Crispy Critter." I used aloe vera and vitamin e. I didn't slough off or split or anything. Just kept it moisturized with vitamin e at night and aloe vera gel in the day. Very Important!!! I had 30 treatments. See if you can find a shealoe creme also- it is what the docs use here-

half shealoe for moisturizing and half aloe for the burns. I make it for the radiation

oncologist here but usually don;t ship it to warmer places as it melts so easily.

we call it HELL creme and I added a little lavender EO to mine as I burn badly.
