Guest guest Posted October 15, 2004 Report Posted October 15, 2004 Well, as most of you know my brother in law was diagnosed with stage 4 rectal cancer in July. He has finished his 6 weeks of radiation and 24/7 chemo. He is in the 4th week of his " break " . His scans (CT & PET) came back with no visable eveidence of cancer. It was in his liver, peratinuium, and nodes. The drs. are all amazed. He met with his surgeon today and he recommends removing the entire rectum and said he had a 50% chance of a colostomy. In my mind I would take the odds if that gave me better odds on beating this thing. He wants to get another opinion and didn't make an appointment with the surgeon for another month. I know they will start up chemo again soon. What do you guys think about this? What about the colostomy...does anyone here have one? This would be a life long change but, could prolong or even save his life. DOes anyone have any exeprience with this? Thanks a million...you guys are great! Susie Quote
