Hi Marla,

Many of the children that are on the diet are sensitive to dairy and eggs. There is a wonderful website that is dedicated to using the SCD to treat autism. They have a ton of kid friendly recipes that are dairy and/or egg free and they also have recipes for egg replacers.

Many people that are sensitive to cow's milk have found that they tolerate goat's milk yogurt very well. I think the ghee needs to be homemade. I've never looked at it myself but I remember reading on here that the ghee in the store has illegals added and I'm pretty sure Baden and Jodi both make their own because there have been discussions on how to do it.

Hi You can use Ghee(clarified butter) as a substitute for butter. This is available in Indian grocery stores. In India we use Ghee in place of butter.

Man, I'm glad that I read this info - I had Lucy's yogurt starter , the ypgourmet in the cupboard - It's been in there now for 20 days like that - do you all think it's bad or can I still use and put into the fridge?

Put it in the fridge now, but it should be OK. LOL! I had a case which

sat in my refrigerator while everything else in the fridge rotted due to

the power outage after Hurricane Katrina. It was wrapped in plastic, so

wasn't affected by the rotting -- and it made excellent yogurt. Only

thing I did salvage of my SCD food.... <sigh>

I keep mine in the freezer and the box says refrigeration recommended.

Not sure if it is bad or not, but I bought mine from a health food

store and it was in the freezer. hth

Most have additives such as starch, lactose and sugar e.g. hot dogs, turkey loaf, spiced ham, bologna, smoked meats.

Meats do not have to be organic, or grassfed. but it's something that you can eat if you want. Certainly if your using regular meat and it is giving you symptoms then you should try it in grassfed to see if that gives you the same symptoms. . Katy
