Guest guest
Hey guys! It's me, from East Texas. I am trying to get caught up on all of the mail. I get my e-mail through my school district I work through. I have been out since the 20th of December and I am just getting back today on the 2nd. I hope all of you had wonderful holidays. We have spent a lot of time at Texas Childrens in Houston over the holidays. First of all, I wanted to update yall on Caleb and what we have found out so far. On December 11, Caleb had an endoscopy done and blood drawn for allergies and Cystic Fibrosis and Celiac testing. The endoscopy showed he has a hiatial hernia and esophagitis (sp?). The blood for the Cystic Fibrosis testing -they lost! The allergey testing shows he has a class three allergy to wheat, class 2 allergy to barley, corn, oats, soybean, peanuts and green peas; and a class 1 allergy to egg white, and green string beans. However, the GI doctor swears that he doesn't have celiac. He says the endoscopy show all of the villi standing tall and the blood testing shows negative for it also. Caleb had had an allergey to milk but somehow outgrew it. Really strange I thought. The Dr. also thinks by the time Caleb is 5 or so he will magically outgrow all of these allergies. I hope but not counting on it. Then, this past Thursday, we went for a sweat test and it came back a 10. The doc said that fourty is where they start considering it as a sign of cf. She had also told me that a sweat test is more accurate then the blood testing. I told her I had heard the opposite is why I had asked for the blood testing. She said it wasn't. I was really confused. Even though the doc says he is not celiac, we still have to basically follow the celiac diet. This is where I need help. My son does not like the food. Any suggestions. Also, is cornstarch from corn. Under ingredients it says-cornstarch. Also what about soy lechtin and soy oil. Its in everything along with cornsyrup. Well, this is basically our story, if any of you have any suggestions or help, please let me know. I really appreciate all of your concerns and prayers and support. I could not have been the " pushy mom " if it wouldn't have been for yall, and we still might not know the answers.
