Guest guest
Hi , The 10% weight loss starts when you either meet with your surgeon or go to orientation. In SSF you will go to orientation before you see the surgeon and in Richmond many times you see the surgeon before you go to orientation. In the binder that you receive at orientation there is a Pre-Op meal plan. Follow all the guidelines in the meal plan and start a regular exercise program, whether it is going to the gym or walking for 20 minutes at least. The weight will start to come off. Another thing that is extremely important that you drink 64 oz of water a day. Water will help you keep hydrated and flush out your system. Try no to think that you are going to be dieting. When you think you are dieting you are setting yourself up for failure. Now what you are following is a meal plan that will help you prepare you for the meal plans you will need to follow for the rest of your life. Good luck on your journey and keep asking the questions. Guest guest
I rarely put my stats, but when I do they are beginning weight/current weight/goal weight. I just recently received my approval letter and what I understand is that I should not begin to lose weight until I meet with the surgeon. Is this correct? Also, What diet did everyone do to loose so much weight prior to surgery? Thanks,
Guest guest
, It is often that some put the beginning weight as in the beginning of the journey. I for one put all myself. I did the pro-complex to lose the weight before surgery. I dropped the weight like a rock. I think you should have no problems getting the 10% or what ever amount they want if you just put your mind to it. Good luck. I am looking forward to you being post op and putting the different weights down too. Huggles, SUE 353 lbs. Beginning of my journey 316 lbs. surgery day 210 TODAY!! 149 lbs. Goal only 59 lbs. to get to goal. J From: Jen Hogsett Sent: Thursday, January 22, 2004 9:37 PM To: gastric-bypass-support-kaiser-patients Subject: Re: Pre-Surgery Diet to lose the 10%? Guest guest
Each facility has a little bit different process but for the most part it is at your appt with the surgeon that you are given a number of pounds to lose in order to get a surgery day. 10% is just a guideline, not a rule. As for the diet to lose the weight prior to surgery, this again is a personal thing. For me, I had to lose 20 lbs. before surgery. I started exercising, cut out all fast food and soda, limited my intake of carbs and sugar, began drinking 64 oz. of water every day. I lost the 20 lbs. in about 6 weeks.
