Guest guest Posted January 6, 2000 Report Share Posted January 6, 2000 Carol, I do think cleaning up the diet helps, so I'm with your naturopath on that one, but I don't believe myself that that alone will do the trick. Naturopaths are generally anti-drug of any kind so you have to bear that in mind when seeing them. I hate taking medications myself because if there is a side effect, I generally get them. I do, however, believe that the minimal risk of the AP is definitely worth the possible gains that can be made in trying to turn around these illnesses. You have to be clear in your own mind, though, that it's something you think is worth pursuing so that you can put up the fight that will probably be required to get your doctor to prescribe it. There aren't a lot of doctors anywhere who have educated themselves about this treatment so you have to expect some resistance and be willing to fight for the treatment. I've met many people who have made tremendous gains on the AP and I'm slowly making some myself so I do feel it's worth trying, along with the improved diet. Guest guest Posted January 6, 2000 Report Share Posted January 6, 2000 Hi Carol, Oh that there were some simple answers here, lifes just not like that!<wry smile> I think that diet can cure some things and is especially helpful with bowel related things like IBS (voice of experience here, mine was cured by diet!) but I cannot see how it would cure other things. The fact that we need to consider diet is because our systems have failed in some way to cope and it's the cause of that malfunction that we need to be seeking out and fixing if we want a 'cure.' It's great that you are planning on reducing the Mtx and are not keen to try any other such medication, wise lady! These decisions are not always easy to make and I admire you taking a stand on this one. What do you have to lose by trying the Anti-biotic Protocol? Hopefully you will have enough information (on the web site) to convince your rheumy that it certainly will not harm you and is therefore worth doing. I guess it's too much to hope that he would be convinced straight off but one never knows, miracles do happen<smile> Does he have e-mail? If so tell him about our doctors corner where he can discuss this with his fellow doctors. In that situation they cannot come with all that medical mumbo jumbo that sometimes has us mere mortals bamboozled and left not knowing how to answer their questions<grin> Nothing ventured, nothing gained, you can but try. Give him the book to read though the trouble with that is that they invariably don't have time so you'll just have to be VERY persuasive:-)) We all know how you feel Carol and it's no fun to be feeling at sea when it comes to important decisions regarding ones health<caring hug> I would investigate *all* posibilities if I was you, I'm not sure what a Naturopath does in the UK, it varies from country to country but use whatever means you have to get well. There have been some who get better with just diet. You could start both, a good diet, and the antibiotics, then drop the methotrexate as you get better. Then see how you are. And, remember the antibiotics are low dosages, with little side effect. Good for you to have read the book. It certainly provides a lot of information. Since it's been a few weeks since your daughter was measured at CT it's possible her measurements might have changed. My daughter got her DOC Band less than 2 weeks ago. She turned 9 months last week. Her cranial vault assymetry was 12 and her facial assymetry was 4mm. So their cases don't seem to be that unsimilar. We decided to go ahead and band her because we knew it wouldn't bother her. At this age we figured we could only really regret not doing it. We were loosing so much sleep. When she got the band we just all felt better! We were down this road before with our son. He was banded from 5-8 months. I think what you have to ask yourself is, If my daughters headshape and facial asymmetry never changed could I live with that? This is just my opinion, but I would band. This is a hard decision and I wish you the best with trying make it and we will be here to support you no matter what that decision is. The measurements can be different because of time in between, different tools, and different procedures followed by each person. Cranial Tech. came up with the system they use to measure asymmetry and it is widely used in the craniofacial, nuero, and plagiocephaly world. I would not worry about the same young man taking measurements that were taking pictures because they all are thoroughly trained in the measurements. Whatever decision you made however, this group would still be supportive. Things that helped at casting - lolipop, bottle, special toys to distract that your child likes a lot. I'm planning to bring her lovey, a lollipop and some of her own shampoo with us. My husband will be there to help. I was told that it will take two weeks to get the band after that... is that normally the case? After it was over, I was like THIS is what I had myself so worked up about! It really is painless and over quickly. Yes, it is possible that her band could come in before 2 weeks. It's usually 2 weeks though.
