The W32.Novarg.A@mm is hitting everyone GLOBALLY hard and heavy. Like the message I sent yesterday and said my DAT files were updated as of 01/21/04. In the middle of writing that message - my Norton was actively downloading a NEW DAT file - so now it's dated 01/26/04.

It is significantly slowing down all servers and internet response time... as well as STOPPING emails.

If you have an antivirus software... make sure it's up to date and run a VScan just for giggles.

What is W32.Novarg.A@mm and how does it affect me?W32.Novarg.A@mm is an encrypted mass-mailing worm that arrives as an attachment, with either a .exe, .scr, .zip, or .pif extension.

Note: Symantec Consumer products that support Worm Blocking functionality automatically detect this threat as it attempts to spread.

The worm creates a mass mailing of itself, which may:1. Clog mail servers or degrade network performance2. Impact system performance

This worm is currently undergoing analysis. The record at Security Response will be updated as information becomes available.

Sorry for the mess that you received, but I didn't send out that message. I'm hoping there isn't a new virus lurking out there. I'm off to go check out things and make sure my computer is clean. Looks like had something also. Very frustrating, but my email shows I haven't posted to this site since Sat.
