Guest guest
Hello everyone: I just wanted to share a small magic moment. Last weekend, my partner and I went to South Dakota to visit the Mount Rushmore National Monument, and since it is quite a distance from California, we had to fly. I was a bit apprehensive; the last time we flew anywhere, we were in first class (you know, bigger seats, bigger seat belts), but I still had to ask for that pesky seat belt extension. This time we were flying coach. Eee gads! Tiny seats. No room for arms, let alone a big belly. And don't even try to put down the tray table! As we approached our seats, I looked at the tiny space, and I held my breath as I sat down. But, to my wonderment, I slid right in with room on the sides. I fastened the seat belt, and whoosh! I pulled the belt tight and marveled at the approximately 12 inches of extra seat belt material. Then I lowered the tray table, and it didn't even touch my stomach; it just fell into place with 2 to 3 inches of clearance. I sat there, closed my eyes and prayed a little prayer of thanks. Wayne noticed I was silent, and said, " How does it feel? " I said, " Look. I fit. I can't believe I finally fit into an airplane seat. " Mount Rushmore was awe-inspiring and beautiful, and made me proud of the good old USA, but the deeper and more lasting memory of this trip will be fitting into that airplane seat for the first time.
