Guest guest
Greetings everyone! I'm going to be six weeks post-op tomorrow (I'm still excited to say the words " post-op). And I'm a bit concerned because last week I only lost two pounds and this week I have not lost at all, and I do follow all the food rules. I know people talk about platous, but can I be having one already? Please let me know if maybe there is something wrong with me. My other question is that I have my first post-op appointment in Sacramento for PB and I have heard that it takes a long time, one to two hour wait, is this true? And what should I expect from this visit? Any answers would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, J'net
Guest guest
Hi J'net, Sometimes the body just seems to need time to adjust. How have you been doing over-all? I seem to recall stalling a bit around 4-6 weeks out. But, as long as you are following all the food rules, the weight will come off. It is faster for some than others, but it does go. I remember being so worried when my weight loss stalled - but tomorrow I'll be 4 months post-op and down 81 pounds since surgery. How are you doing with exercise? It does seem to make a difference. Sorry I can't answer about the PB appointment - I am largely clueless about PB. Don't get discouraged. All the best, Kay open RNY 12/1/03 jnetg60 wrote: Greetings everyone! Guest guest
J'net- Almost everyone I have talked to that has had this surgery tends to stall on the weight loss. It usually happens between week 4-6. According to the magazine that ObesityHelp puts out, it is because our bodies are going through major adjustments. It will pick up again...I find it helpful to keep a list of my weight loss cause when I think I think I haven't been losing I look back and see that I really am. Guest guest
J'net- You will definately have a wait for any of your post-op apps. They usually are running behind about 1-2 hours....But it is a great time to talk with fellow post-ops. The app. is very fast. The surgeon will basically ask if you are having any problems or if you have any questions...He/She should also go over your blood test results...and they might want to have a look at you incision. Usually, the app. only lasts 5 mins.
