Guest guest
Welcome to the group !! I've heard your frustrations many times - uncooperative PCPs and the such. There are many people here who can help you and give you suggestions about what to do regarding your PCPs refusal to submit paperwork. Hopefully they've already chimed in - I'm way behind in my emails!! Good luck on your journey! Hugs, Jen crzqn2004 wrote: Hello to everyone: I am new to this group. I met with my nutritionist on 1/5/2004 and she said in her opinion I should have no problems getting approved. My BMI is 46 but I have high blood pressure, taking two types of meds for it, have fibromyalgia and arthritis. I am having a problem with my PCP actually submitting the referral. I began my quest for WLS in AUGUST 2002 by discussing the issue with my PCP. He told me to try harder to lose weight, to exercise more and to lose 10% of my weight and to come back to see him in 3 months. Well, now it is a year and a half later, I did not lose the weight, I have actually gained and at my last appointment with him on 12/28/03 he said he would not stand in my way and that he would submit referral. He still has not done it. My nutritionist is 100% supportive and she has even talked with him but still no referral. She suggested I change PCP's to someone who is more knowledgeable about WLS but I am afraid it will take more time to start all over again. Sorry to be so long-winded in my first post on this board but I guess you can tell that I am extremely frustrated with a PCP who is making me jump hoops for nothing. Any advise from anyone who has had similar experiences? Also, I read alot on message boards about support groups for people to attend prior to surgery but most seem to be in SSF or Richmond. I live in Antioch. Any out this way? Thank you all in advance to reading this post and for responding in any way.

Guest guest
There is a support group in Walnut Creek john muir hospital the first Tuesday of the month at 6pm. that is really the closest one, but I would be into starting one closer. I live in Concord and work in Antioch, and I know there are others in the area. I would be willing to try and organize it, but not sure where we could meet. any ideas? > > Hello to everyone: I am new to this group.
