_____________________________________________THIEF! One day my husband arrived home with a wee bit of fluff and said hehad bought it for three dollars outside a pub, where a child was begging. What we didn't know at the time is that he was going to turn out to bea Great Dane! I had just become pregnant and was worried about how this dog wouldtake to a baby, since we lavished so much love on him. As he grew, so didI, and the day came for me to bring home a baby boy. As soon as "Tim" saw that baby -- it was his! NO one could get evenclose to him. He guarded him with a fervor and he would wait until we saidit was okay before anyone could go near the baby. Every morning Tim went for his stroll and every morning he returnedwith a toy of some kind -- a car, an old ball, anything new or old. Wenever knew where he was finding all these things. He always dropped themnear the playpen or the carriage -- wherever the baby happened to be. If I put the baby outside for air in his carriage, he was guardedcontinuously. One day, I reminded my husband to pick up some extra clothespins onthe way home because I didn't have enough to hang diapers (this was longbefore disposables.) Well, when Tim came home that morning from his walk,he didn't have a toy -- he had an eleven quart basket of clothespins! Ofcourse, he was followed by one screaming lady as well. I apologized, buthow can you explain to someone the circumstances of his actions? It seemed every time I mentioned to my husband we needed this or that,I could be sure the next morning Tim would arrive at the door with it.Once it was a throw rug for the floor -- brand new and to this day I neverfound out where it came from. When we talked money problems and payingbills, well, you guessed it -- he arrived home with a wallet stuffed withmoney and no identification in it! While we were discussing what to do weheard a knock on our door and there stood an old gentleman who lived in thefront of our building and had a habit of leaning back on his chair andfalling asleep. Yep. Tim had just picked his pocket! It was a veryembarrassing situation to admit your loving dog was a thief. This happened 40+ years ago and to this day, we will never forget thelove and the devotion this dog had for us. There are many more stories ofTim through the years but this is perhaps the shortest and best way I cantell you all what a wonder he was! -- Katzur
