Guest guest
I remember Don speaking about the difference between head of the bed platform being up on bricks verses the use of pillows elevating ur head and the diaphragm problems. You put the elevation under the mattress frame legs or between the matress and the box spring?? I love my dual bladder mattress and reg box spring 'cause u can make one side soft and the other firm. The hospital beds the mattresses are too uncomfortable for me. i sleep 4to 5 hours then I am up for awhile then i am sleeping for 2 hours more. Is this normal??? thank u. nancy m. Guest guest
, I would put the bricks under the box spring and raise the whole assembly (or under the frame if you have one). You may have to add a foot to the bed if you don't have one to keep you from slowly sliding down the bed. We have the foot of the hospital bed and put a pillow there for Charlotte's feet. This also helps, because she does not like the weight of the sheets and blankets on her toes, so the pillow holds them up off the toes. You CAN get better mattresses for hospital beds, they do run about $800 and Medicare would not pay for it with us. Most people sleep in 2 hour cycles where you go through the entire cycle including REM sleep. If you don't get the entire cycle, you are not as rested. It sounds as if you are getting 3 complete cycles - 4 is better, but three is enough for some people. Charlotte uses trazadone to help her fall asleep, but she often wakes up during the night also. She then takes a two hour nap after her next meds. , do you remember the names of the different parts of the cycle? I don't offhand. Take care, Bill and Charlotte -------------------------------------------------------------------- nancy wrote: > I remember Don speaking about the difference between head of the bed > platform being up on bricks verses the use of pillows elevating ur head > and the diaphragm problems. Guest guest
thanks! i have the same problem with the blankets hurting my feet so badly! people try to wrap me up like a little doll they say. I just like my hospital light weight blanket and sheet if that and definitely nothing on my feet. I have compression hose on so i am definitely warm enough. I known it is cold to everyone else in our house. I am so glad they understand now about the temperature problem and my autonomic system beginning manual gears now. I put a pillow under my hip area to my toes and pillows at my side area so i don't roll. People panic because I guess I look like I am gonna fall off the side of the bed. Feels fine to me:) perception concept disability:) As for the bricks. I have a metal frame that the box springs and water mattress is on. Will bounce the brick idea with Bob. thank u! nancy:) Werre wrote: > > , > > I would put the bricks under the box spring and raise the whole assembly (or under > the frame if you have one).
