Has anyone any idea how I can go about teaching the concept of danger to a

" charger " ?

Re: Fear

Wow, that is a difficult question. Out of my area of expertise, I'm afraid.

But I have two suggestions. First, post your question to the list - ask other

parents what they have done. Second, ask for suggestions from Brown, a

deafblind specialist who works with kids a lot. The latest email I have for him

is:

davidbrown1234@...

good luck.

show any fear at all and where we're from it is important to know when to act on

something that is not right and to anticipate danger. I've put this to her OT &

decided to contact you for any in put.RegardsElna

Elna,

You have asked a question that I am sure affects many of us with

chargers.

In order to give better answers, could you give us some information

about how Chantelle (13 years old) communicates? Does she speak, or

sign, or use pictures to communcate, or all of the above or none of the

above? Or does she communicate in another way? Can you give some

details of her hearing and vision?

Also, sometimes it helps to focus on one area to make progress

initially. Is there one particular area you would like to teach her to

use caution about?
