Hmmm digital aids, if your used to them ie, a young child, you can

probably get used to them Some ppl like them, some cant stand them.

I dont like them at all more because there is times I would love to

be able to turn the darn volume down, lol! Maby get a digital with a

volume control or ask if you could do a trial run with a pair just

to see how they work for you. Best of luck!

I don't know what caused it, cause it was quick. At the end of March 2003 my

brother had a party at the house with loud music and lots of friends

talking. I know them all and I am used to the loud parties. I was at my

computer and within a matter of an hour my hearing went down - like a

battery going dead. I changed the battery - no sound, I checked to make sure

the hearing aid was working properly and it was but I still had no sound, I

cleaned the earmold - no sound.

Mom came home on the third hour and I told her and she did exactly the same

things I did - check the battery, the Aid, and the Mold. Then she asked me

to try my left hearing aid instead of my right. I'm practically deaf in the

left ear it just helps with the direction of sound, the right ear is the

best ear I can hear out of with hearing aids.

Mom made an appointment with the doctor for the very next day, and with only

the left hearing aid on, I could only hear sounds not what was being said or

anything like that just sound. Like cars going by while your walking down

the street.

The Doctor put me on strong anibiotics to clear up any inner ear infections

that couldn't be seen with the naked eye. Then he sent me home to wait. It

was six weeks of not being able to fully hear until my hearing returned in

my right ear.

An old friend of mine who went to Queensdale School for the Hearing

Impaired, she has a worser hearing loss than I do but functions well with

lip reading, and wearing two hearing aids herself. She lost her hearing the

same way I did a year ago this month, but hers never returned and mine did.

Sincerely yours; Krista Bach.

That's scary. Aubrie sounds like you as far as hearing. Her left is

severe/profound, her right is mild/moderate. I have always hoped she'd always

keep the hearing (and vision) she has. It's so frightening to think she could

lose it so easily. Thanks again for sharing.
