Hi Kate I have been messing on our computer tis afternoon and want to say hello and welcome back.

BACK FROM SC

We left Myrtle Beach yesterday at 2pm, and arrived safely, though exhausted, at home in NY by 1:30 this am. For some reason, I HAD to get up at 8am--the sun was shining; I knew there were 16 phone messages flashing on the machine, and a huge pile of snail mail to poke through--loads of junk, but too many bills also!

I so missed all of you so much; glad to be home; sleep in my own bed. Today is clear, 81 and so much less humid than SC--and NY too. Apparently, it had been brutally hot and humid here when we were gone; so I'm glad we 'missed' it here!

How is everyone faring? I hope well. I'm trying to play a bit O catch-up on emails, though I have to admit I'm not reading each and every one--a bit too tedious for me, but certainly the many that even arrived in the last 2 days!

Glad we were able to at least launder all our clothes before we came home, so it is one less thing to do now. But there's the usual unpacking and putting away.

My focus now that I'm home is :"re-parenting"; I saw a Dr. Phil show while we were away that showed a dad/husband very akin to my spouse. Anyways, I bought the book by him, 'Family First', and it really has some awesome tools, advice and recommendations for improving and repairing relationships with your kids, and getting back on track in terms of discipline, etc.My other list of stuff is: getting in shape for the MS bike tour, Sept.30-I'll be trying to do a 20 mile ride. Earlier in Sept. there is a swim across the Hudson for MS--but I'll do what I did last time-kayak. So, I have my work cut out for me. Lastly, I will be looking into more employment for the fall.More than likely, another nursery school or day care center. Thanks for listening to me babble. love to all, kate

Dear Bill~Hey there! Glad to see you! Thanks for the welcome back! I missed you, and everyone here! I had NO idea how very much you all mean to me...til I didn't have access to the 'puter! I find everyone here is much more understanding than my own family.

On the drive home yesterday, my 10 year old dtr., , suddenly piped up with--and YOU had to get that damn MS! My 15 yr old dtr. got upset with and kicked her. I told her not to, that was right--MS stinks. I obviously didn't 'mean' to get it. kept right on saying how MS wrecked everything. She and I are gonna have to spend some one on one time very soon. love to all ,take care ,Bill, kate

Welcome back Kate, glad you made it safely. I hope you had an

enjoyable trip.

I'm with you, I hate unpacking, packing is ok, cuz you know you're

going on vacation, unpacking stinks cuz you know vacation is over,

lol!!!

Sounds like you have quite a few things lined up to do already. Where

do you get all that energy? 20 mile bike ride, kayaking? Heck no, not

me!!!

You did miss some wicked hot and humid days. The kind that took your

breath right out of you as soon as you opened the door to step out.

You broke out into a sweat just standing still. It's so much better

now!!!

Glad to have you back!!!

Hugs,

Peggy

Sometimes I will look at myself in the mirror and wish so much I didn't have this MS because all the good times I have had to pass up with my family. I sometimes feel like I am in a box having this MS. I am glad I get good support from my family. My wife Judy works very hard at work, she is so busy she will often be working on our computer to keep up with paper work from her job. I feel a little guilty because I mostly sit around waiting for her to get off work.

Re: BACK FROM SC

Bill. Listen, you have NOTHING to feel guilty about. I find you to be quite a ray of sunshine in your own right. You sound to be very involved, as much as you possibly can. I am certain that Judy just knows how deeply you appreciate her. My problem right now Bill, is that family is NOT allowing me to 'pass up' on good times. I suppose I'm more the 'glue' to the family than my husband, and it is rare if my kids will do something, or go somewhere without me. In some ways, I appreciate it, in other ways, it is a bit of a burden, to feel that I 'have' to go along with everything, even though it will overtax me. I guess it is part and parcel of their denial. thanks for sharing, Bill~you're a sweetie, kate

Re: Re: BACK FROM SC

Hi Joanne. I know exactly where Ocean Lakes is! We are not too far down the road, in Surfside--kinda between Garden City and Surfside--Oceanside Village/Rose Realty--right across from the Tupelo Bay golf course, and the Bi-Lo on 17 South. We go EVERY year. My in-laws live there;have since 1993. Every year, we need to do at least one big chore for my MIL. This year, it was cleaning out her shed--I did 2 hours of work in there! We cleared out a bunch of stuff, reorganized it, etc.--to make room for MORE stuff from her $50/mo. storage place. My husband made 3 or 4 trips to empty it all out. Gave alot of stuff to Salvation Army. My MIL insisted my hub put what Sally didn't want, in THEIR dumpster. My hub started telling him mom, we can't do that--she kept pushing him to. When he did, they came out and yelled at him. lol! My MIL tries to cut corners alot! You are smart, Joanne, to go in April--much more comfortable then! love to all, kate hey kate where in Myrtle did you stay? We went in April and stayed at Ocean lakes. Hey kate......Is your Mother in law a huge pack rat like mine is? My mother in law has bought a modular home and wants it located in between the 2 houses she has now. The old houses need to be cleaned out and torn down first. The woman has not thrown out a thing in 51 years she has lived there......UGHHHH. I have heard surfside is nice. never went that far. Have you ever been on the intercoastal waterway? I love that alot.Kate Rothschild wrote: Re: Re: BACK FROM SC Hi Joanne. I know exactly where Ocean Lakes is! Bill,

I feel like you do. I'm not sure if it's more about the MS for me or

the anxiety issues for me though since the MS is only a year old for

me. I know it doesn't help.

I know I don't have the energy level that I used to have, I know I

have a lot more pain than I did, I know that when we went to Canada I

was the one holding everyone up and I felt terrible. I know I'm still

not used to using a cane. It doesn't make it fun, even if they are

saying it doesn't matter it's hard not to feel guilty.

I go when I feel I can and I don't when I feel I can't. That's all

any of us can do. I know if I push myself too hard for a couple of

days in a row then I will pay for it. If I do that I make sure

someone is going to be around to help me and take care of Zack so I

can just rest and take care of me.

Your family loves you and you love them, going places shouldn't

matter, being together should. It's easy for me to say to you, but

not so easy for even myself to do.

Hugs,

Peggy

Hey Cassy...thanks for the note. Glad to be home. In my own comfy-womfy bed. It is one of those king-sized waterbeds, but not the old fashioned kind--it zips inside of a regular looking mattress, and doesn't feel like you are being washed ashore somewhere-more stable. but goodness- there is NO bed like mine--none.Just for the bed alone I'm happy to be home.

For some dumb reason...probably the trigeminal neuralgia pain--I drank a very large (grande) margarita tonight. I'm gonna head for mi cama (bed) very soon. My dtr. Kara decided to stay down in SC, and will fly back to Philly to pick up her car, then drive back to NY. and Luke went on a sleep over, and Lloyd and I took Lia (15) and (7) out to a Mexican restaurant we had never been to--mainly cause we had a coupon to go--it was good==took $10 off our bill. Fancy, yet family--wonderful place--glad we went.

The highlights of our SC trip, Cassy were--went to the waterpark--6 long hours! Amusement park-in the evening; about 5 hours then--Lord knows I wish I had a scooter THAT night. Swimming most every day, sometimes 2x a day--in the morning and in the evening. Dinners out. My hub and I love sushi (some folks have an icky way of referring to sushi as "bait"! lol!) but we love it. My MIL gets coupons for Olive Garden. Believe it or not, we have NONE of these near us in NY--the closest is nearly 2 hrs away! So--we love going there. I get the all you can eat soup and salad-yum. Mainly just bumming around, relaxing. I read 3 books--me, who rarely has the focus to read. The Outsiders, and 2 murder mysteries--which I'm not so interested in, my MIL adores mysteries--but once I get into them, I can't put them down~rofl! My dtr, Kara had her 19th b-day on the 12 of July, and very much wanted a digi-camera, so Lloyd went out and that's what he got here for her b-day--Sony. very nice. Abbout $275, with a case, battery, etc. She will have most the photos--so have to wait for her to come home!

Went to church today, which was real nice. My younger sis (also MS) had us over to her condo to swim in her pool today--quite hot. We were going to only stay for about 2 hrs, but our brother and his wife came, and we wound up staying for about 5 hrs! Did 20 min. on the "fat burn" program on my fairly new treadmill. I almost fainted when I got off the scale this am seeing how high they had tipped. Time to reduce. We have another family reunion/pool party Aug. 18. My goal is to lose 10 lbs by then...Now I've said it--I gotta shoot for it! love to you Cassy. Hey, is the jury still out on your dx sweetie? I'm reading all sorts of various dx's, but have they 'nailed it' down? Prayers to you. How is you fiance? Still clean and sober I hope and pray? Is ihe working the program? I hope so. love and blessings, kate

Relaxing. Fun. Made some decisions, which needed to be arrived at--mostly about revamping parenting. Re-focusing in general. Trying harder. Trying to feel less guilty. big stuff.

The best part for me--about a vacation--is the homecoming part. Being a "moonchild"/cancer, being a homebody, is what I do best. love to you, kate

Yeah Peggy, some of our poor wittle wiltin' to-maters and cukes are singing the sad tune of the horrific heat and humidity. We had a neighbor come by every 2 days to water...but alas we lost some stuff! boo-hoo. Still do have some fairly large tomatoes that are still green. Hoo-boy--funny story--last Halloween we had couple 3 or so pumpkins/jack O lanterns out on our front porch. When they got 'icky' we kinda pushed em off the sill. Well, you would NOT believe your eyes! Pumpkins growing like you just wouldn't believe! WE have a regular ol' pumpkin patch! All them yellow/orange flowers are just everywhere. Hey--is just NY or is it everywhere that the bees are not populated like they used to be?? There is some sort of story, not sure if it's true, that cell phones are to blame for the decline of the honey bee. But we surely need the bees to come do their job of pollenating! Hopefully, we'll have our own big crop of punkins this fall!

How you been Peggy? I'm proud of you doing your shots, girl! That is AWESOME! Congrats! love to you and all on list, kate

Re: BACK FROM SC

Welcome back Kate, glad you made it safely. I hope you had an enjoyable trip.I'm with you, I hate unpacking, packing is ok, cuz you know you're going on vacation, unpacking stinks cuz you know vacation is over, lol!!!Sounds like you have quite a few things lined up to do already. Where do you get all that energy? 20 mile bike ride, kayaking? Heck no, not me!!!You did miss some wicked hot and humid days. The kind that took your breath right out of you as soon as you opened the door to step out. You broke out into a sweat just standing still. It's so much better now!!!Glad to have you back!!!Hugs,Peggy

Thanks, Challis. There's alot of work I have to do. Can't back-peddle. Have to have a renewal of sorts. Right now I'm trying to deal with an online friend who is steamed that I didn't email him while I was away--he felt abandoned and at the 'tail' of other's lives...oh boy...Now I'm 'Mea Culpin' myself back...which is ex-hausting! So very tired after a swim, 20 min. 'fat-burning' treadmill, then a non-sensical grande margarita! sweet dreams, love, kate

Re: BACK FROM SC

Welcome back, Kate! I was beginning to wonder if you were ever coming home. LOL

I'm glad you found that book and I hope it really helps! :o)

Hugs,

It still always bugs me that there are several things around the house that need to be done and they are all very simple things for me to do as a healthy person and now if my son or Judy can't fix it I end up having to pay a lot of money for an easy repair. I can't use ladders at all I did have some house wiring and Judy jumped in and got it done for me. She did good following my instructions.

Bill, I can't seem to recall whether or not you are part of a church or other religious affiliation, but, when there is stuff going on here, that I'm either too fatigued, in pain or otherwise unable to 'do', my church offers to step in. As a matter of fact, yesterday when I went to church--we hadn't been there for 2 or 3 wks, the woman who heads up 'CareGiving'/Practical needs came up to me and said, oh I haven't seen you for so long, how are you feeling? Could you use any meals made for you? I said I'm ok for now, but will let her know. There was a period of about 2 mos when I was real bad that different folk in the church would make 3 to 4 meals a wk! It took me some time over the last few years to be able to 'accept' or even ask for any kind of assistance. For whatever reason, it also embarrasses my husband terribly. I just remember something a dear friend of mine years ago said: Receive as graciously as well as the giver is giving. I'm having, with my foot and leg troubles, all sorts of challenges keeping up with the housework. For awhile there I was having 2 women come in every 3 wks. They'd do an awesome job, but it would cost $120, plus sometimes they needed extra $ for supplies. My husband is real down on me arranging for them, so I'm going to have to tell them I cannot afford it. Who knows, maybe we could do it, say 3x a year? We have our big hallway that we began painting, that needs to be finished, and the white trim also in my kitchen. I'm going to attempt to get those jobs done myself over the summer. The kids might be able to give me a hand, if they are careful! Take care of yourself, Bill. I know it is all very frustrating for you~kate

We had our back porch completely redone by our church 2 years ago and I Judy and I are very happy for what they did for us especially since they did it without us asking them to do it.

Here are some photo's of our porch and a few who did it.

My big complaint is usually I am impatient about getting a simple job done. Mainly because all those things I need help with I can if it wasn't for this dumb MS.
