I personally would never have the surgery. I went on the candida diet adn took antifungals. avoid certan soaps, etc and my VV went away completely. Well then I went back to eating processed foods and lots of sugar and the itching and burning came back. So I am going to go back on a no sugar diet again. My VV definately has something to do with candida even though the gyns I saw said no. Funny that when I went on the diet and took the antifungals the VV went away, my face cleared up, my tonenails cleared up and my fatigued went away. I would just like to find a doctor that could help me figure out why I keep having this problem. (candida) I think my hormones are really off balance. I got tested and I had low DHEA and testosterone. I started on a testosterone cream. The problem is at my age (43) it is much harder to get your hormones balanced. So I need to find an expert in that area.

I have very good insurance. Do you have health insurance? If you do, you can call and they will help you or you may want to call your own insurance company and ask about coverage sometimes if your primary Dr. gives you a referral your insurance will pay. My first trip was to see the Gyno and then he referred me to the Gyno Surgeon. I live in a small town about 2 hrs away from Rochester and I could have also gone to the University of Iowa Clinic but decide to go to Mayo. If you would like to know that total cost of my procedure, I can email you the information. It was done as a same day surgery. The best to you. I don't have insurance right now. I'm applying for MinnesotaCare this month. I'm not sure if I will be able to find good health care w/ State insurance. I feel really frustrated that I don't have the resources to deal with this condition. Anyway, I'm glad that you had such success at Mayo. Thanks for suggesting it. I have to agree on the sugar and yeast issue. I have definatly seen a

connection and even Dr. on (my specialist that preformed my surgery)

told me I would need to cut out the sugar and had me tested for impaired

glucose tolerance which I think more doctors are recognizing. Some doctors

call it pre diabetes.
