Guest guest
Your combination of diabetes, hypertension and thyroid stretch beyond what even *I* think I know. Thanks Edd. I am thinking it was low carb syndrome.??? I used to have this when I was on the low carb Lindora Plan in Calif. I had it on the protein day when the carbs went very low. Sometimes salt helped and I ate something salty for starters. I am feeling better. Strange it hit right after the salad lunch. Could even be an allergy to something in the dressing etc or the salmon. But I have had it before. But the allergies can hit all of a sudden. I have not had too much success with the Drs sorting it out. When I was allergy tested a reaction was a fast pulse. The cardiologist stopped all thyroid, the GP says I absolutely must have it. The cardiologist was high priced and busy guy. But the blood sugar is 121 now. I ate shredded wheat, sugar and milk at the advice of a very old diabetic. She thought it was a reaction. Before diabetes I have had low blood sugars of 50 60 and no really bad symptoms. Although once my legs did turn to rubber. Probably in the 40's then. This disease is confusing. The fast pulse left with the beta blocker and stopping the thyroid. I will keep better check of the blood pressure and the pulse and change the diet for now. I evidently need more carbs--reg healthy carbs. I forgot to post my legs were also weak. Maybe just the low blood pressure for me. I would vote for low blood pressure. Time to take the Beta blocker now. Thanks for not having the answers. We are not doctors. I just wondered if anyone else had felt all this at once. I will see the doctor. But not tonight. Guess I have some confidence in your opinion anyway. You can develop potentially dangerous blood clots, and possibly even go into shock. That's why I said to lie down and drink plenty of water and get salt into you and break those beta blockers in half and monitor your blood pressure constantly and record it, to see the pattern. I was just recently able to reduce my beta blockers in half, after many years of high doses. Prior to that, I had several episodes such as you describe. Don't be too quick to attribute your episodes to low-carbing. Susie

Mine was 120. >> You are dealing with multiple issues ... beta blockers, thyroid meds, dietary changes, diabetes. As has been emphasized, beta blockers are very powerful. Don't let your pulse or diastolic pressure get below 60. Take steps to help yourself, keep your b.p. cuff handy, and keep good records. Your rapid pulse had nothing to do with your beta blocker, as I have said before. It is important not to get the messages muddled. She will need something to rely on. Susie
