Guest guest
Amy, My son (Evan, 26 mo, non-verbal for an undx'd reason) just uses Omega- 3 for now (planning on switching to an Omega 3/6 soon), but one mom I know (whose son *was* autistic but no longer meets the criteria for autism probably due to all of the supplements and therapies) has her son on coreomega. He is also on a lot of other supplements though. And again, he was dx'd as autistic, not apraxic. Laurel
Guest guest
Amy-- We've been using Coromega since September, starting on the day that my son Drew was diagnosed with apraxia (no Autism). Between that time and now, in addition to starting some OT that I think has also contributed, he's had a big burst of development. When diagnosed by the developmental pediatrician, he was shown to be 18 months old developmentally at the chronological age of 27 months. He is now 31 months old, and when he was reassessed last month for his IFSP review (which is tomorrow!), his overall score jumped to 27 months. His receptive language jumped to 31 months (pretty much at age) and his cognitive jumped to the 3 year old level. Drew did become more verbal, although he really still isn't saying words really. Maybe vocal is a better word! ;-) I liked it because of it is an appetizing way to take the Omega 3's. We're still on the fence on whether Drew has a rare case of allergy to borage oil (most people don't, but we saw a correlation between skin problems and him taking it), but I know that adding that or primrose oil in the future will be the extra boost. It's definitely worth trying... (PS, they have great deals for Coromega at iHerb.com) le (SAHM to Drew 2.7 apraxia and DSI)
Guest guest
I bought Coromega from the local health food store but it is the same brand and source. Peace, Kathy E. Guest guest
I just wanted to say that we used Coromega at one packet a day for almost six months with no visable changes in speech or behavior. When we started the ProEFA we saw spontanious approximations within a week of changing the supplement. This is only our experience but I wanted to write incase you try the Coromega and don't see a result please don't give up on supplements entirely. I think this is a good example of finding the right balance for the individual. SAHM to 32 months verbally apraxic
