Guest guest Posted November 8, 2004 Report Posted November 8, 2004 Patti: I have not been allowed by my doctor to do any upper body exercise either for exactly the same reasons as you. I had neck surgery 3 yrs ago & it did give me back the use of my legs (I was practically paralyzed before) but the plate & bone grafts prevent too much fiddling with movement--even lifting my arms or bowing my head for too long causes extreme pain. However I was allowed to walk. & that is how I get my exercise still. I walk with a rollator because of instability due to numb feet & lack of balance--permanent nerve damage from the crushed spinal cord & nerve roots. I maintained my walking schedule all during my weight loss & efforts to get my bg's under control. It deff helped with me gaining strength of all kinds. cappie Greater Boston Area T-2 10/02 9/04 A1c: 5.3 Mod 100 carb diet, walking, Metformin.
