Guest guest
Hello , Been on Armour for 2 and a bit months - now at one grain and feeling much better than pre-Armour -though i have noticed my memory and fatigue are worse in the last few days. However stamina is much better and i am more able to walk about and speak to people though i still can't write [by hand] or paint or think properly[and still have a lot of hypot symptoms] Anyway, had some blood tests done for the first time since starting Armour - last results were while i was on 75mcg thyroxine at end of April. 22/7/04 normes 24/4/04 normes one grain Armour 75mcg Thyroxine Free T3 3.61 3.7 - 8.7 4.0 2.1- 6 freeT4 6.61 8.0 - 24 15.9 11.5 - 23 TSH 2.02 0.25-5 1.7 0.4- 4 Haemoglobin 14.5 Ferritin 40 [so suggests my iron stores are a bit diminished ] Its weird that i feel quite a bit better despite my really low fT3 and Ft4 -i felt worse when the levels were much higher- presumably this is partly because my adrenals are improving [though still weak] However i still have a lot of throbbing and pressure from my goitre so i wonder if my thyroid is just dying and that i am more able to use the Armour hormones than the synthetic. -- Best regards, Alison http://www.alisonashwell.com mailto:alison.ashwell@... new work uploaded http://www.artwanted.com/alisonashwell http://www.voodoochilli.net/artists/alisonashwell/
Guest guest
Hi Alison. If you are noticing that your fatigue and memory is suddently worse, it could be because your hypo is returning due to being on a sub-optimal dose. The pituitary gland has told your already limited thyroid to decrease it's output, and with the low dose, your hypo returns. May be time for an increase. Let us know how it turns out! And glad to read that your stamina is improving! janie > Been on Armour for 2 and a bit months - now at one grain and > feeling much better than pre-Armour -though i have noticed my memory > and fatigue are worse in the last few days. I had this happen at the beginning of my hypo 'treatment' when my ex Dr refused to up my dose from 25 mcg thyroxine because 'i was within range' However, it doesn't feel quite the same and the hormone levels are much lower on Armour than they were when i felt my pituitary was reacting in the way you describe but maybe its just a reflection of how much i've improved in the last few months that i am feeling 'more well' than when my fT3/4s were higher -or maybe its to do with the Armour hormone being more available to my body than the artificial ones [even though the tests gave higher results] l> May be time for an increase. Guest guest
It is time to raise the Armour. I find when my body gets used it that low dose and I start to heal but need ore, I feel badly. Then I raise and feel better. It is hard going slow, but it will pay off. first tests since Armour Hello , Been on Armour for 2 and a bit months - now at one grain and feeling much better than pre-Armour -though i have noticed my memory and fatigue are worse in the last few days.
